Lovely. The venue, the food, the intricate and colorful saris, Sarah, and all of the wonderful guests. Just lovely. I felt honored and excited to attend Sarah and Matt’s gaye holud a few weeks ago. I have never had the opportunity to attend a celebration like this and I was so in awe of all of the details and tradition that it was hard for me to focus on taking pictures! Nevertheless, I found a way to pull it together and snap a few shots of this special Bengali wedding event.
Guests walked up to Sarah and Matt and placed turmeric on their face/body or a leaf that they held in their hands. Then, various foods are fed to the couple. It was so neat to watch everyone participate.
We got to sample some pretty amazing food too; doesn’t this look yummy?!
I just love this photo of Sarah’s mom watching them; I knew she was so happy and so very proud.
The lovely bride and groom ; the bride with her beautiful sister.
It was an unforgettable event, and a great prelude to the wedding that followed the next day. I am thrilled that I was able to witness this uniquely beautiful celebration of love, family and friends. Sarah, you were stunning, and Matt, you fit right in buddy! Thank you for allowing me to attend and photograph this special event. It is one that I will always remember.
Congratulations!
