There is something so unbelievably amazing about a newborn baby in their first few days of life: their tiny features, their curled up sleepy poses, and how easy they are to photograph. I request that newborn sessions take place within the first 10 days of birth, but sometimes life happens; babies are unpredictable and between hospital and doctors visits, family coming in and out, and adjusting to life with a newborn, that 10-day window passes right on by. No worries though! The newborn phase may have passed, but that just makes way for what many photographers refer to as the ‘old born’ phase. I personally love the old born phase, when babies are between 4 and 8 weeks old, with their wide-eyed gazes and chubby little cheeks and legs {and bellies, arms, and everything else!}. They are so stinkin’ cute! And even though it may be next to impossible to photograph older newborns in little baskets or curled up in a wooden bowl or on a tiny bench, they still give us some pretty darn cute shots.
Enter Ava. She was 8 weeks old when I photographed her and isn’t she just a DOLL?! That gorgeous dark hair and those beautiful eyes — watch out fellas! Not only was Ava a gem to work with, but her mom is seriously one of the nicest people ever. And did I mention she has great taste? She answered the door with Ava in her arms and TOMS on her feet! Erica you totally rock girl! My biggest regret from this session: not photographing Ava’s nursery for you all to see and swoon over. It is without a doubt one of the most gorgeous nurseries I have ever seen {I seriously have mental images of all the little details and chic decor stored away in the ‘future nursery’ folder of my brain}. Maybe I can shoot her 6mo photos in there so you all can see this adorable room :-/
Okay, I digress. Here are a few images of our little session together — I hope you like!
Ava’s daddy was in the corps at Texas A&M, so we had to get a few shots of her with those famous boots 🙂 One of my favorites from the morning…
Thank you for a wonderful session, Ava ~ I hope you like your sneak peek!
