I have never been on a blind date. Technically. But first time meetings with clients can be very much like a blind date. You walk into Starbucks, skimming the crowd for a person who looks like they may be meeting with a photographer {because THAT is so obvious. Not.}. After analyzing every person in there, you walk up to someone and say the client’s name + question mark {Juuuuulia??}, praying to God that they are who you hope they are, and hoping that you don’t have to endure many more awkward question-greetings. I think I am going to start wearing a Hello, My Name Is Chelsea nametag to Starbucks, and encouraging my clients to do the same π
Julia sat at a tiny table near the register and a display of coffee mugs. She smiled warmly at me once we realized that we were each other’s “blind date” of sorts and we spent her lunch hour talking about her upcoming wedding this fall. It was a quick meeting, but I left feeling really excited about the opportunity to work with Julia and her fiancΓ©; she was laid back but direct. She knew what she wanted, and what she didn’t, and let me know up front. Bam! My kinda gal π I got to meet fiancΓ© Jason at their engagement session and could instantly see how well they go together. Jason is as laid back as Julia is, both are really funny, don’t take each other too seriously, and seemed so completely comfortable together. I didn’t have to work very hard to photograph their love; it was palpable. And THAT makes me super excited about their wedding in November π
While I was getting the shot on the left, Troy snuck that one on the right. Love it πIn the process of trying to get Jason to do his Elvis eyebrow raise …!I loved working with them because they were so natural together in front of the camera. Plus, Julia has some modeling experience from back in the day — can’t you tell?!While I’m capturing the ‘jump’ shot, Troy snags that photo on the right π I love ending on my fave π Thank you for such a fun session together, Julia and Jason! We had an awesome time with you and cannot wait for the wedding to get here. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek π
