I started this week full steam ahead. I was pumped, ready to be productive and get stuff done! And unfortunately, I totally succeeded 🙂 Whew, am I pooped! My to-do list is pretty much checked off and I am ready to start the weekend; and sleep. A lot. But first…the Thread {a day late, oops}!
WARNING: This is a long one, folks. Longest Thread yet, but with good reason 🙂 On Wednesday, the hubs and I woke up early and made the hour and a half drive to Round Top, Texas for the fall antique show. The weather was amazing {before it hit the mid-90s} and there was so much to see. I admit, I was a little overwhelmed but 100% ecstatic. Seriously, my heart was racing at the sight of shabby chic-ness and rustic elegance. I’m not kidding, folks. It was intense. And the funny part is that we totally went to the wrong show, which I swear had nothing to do with my insisting that Troy go left at the stop light instead of turning right. Like he suggested. Ya, that was a total accident 🙂 It was fate though because the ‘wrong’ show actually turned out to be the BEST one of the whole day! We were early birds, arriving before the big crowds {which was awesome and totally unexpected}. It was nice to just casually stroll and actually look at all of the things on display without being rushed. I’m tellin’ ya, there were some very unique and fun booths set up. One of our favorites? The vintage carnival booth complete with ‘fat’ and ‘skinny’ mirrors 🙂 They had old carousel horses, wooden ring toss games, vintage dominoes, cards, and prizes, oh and buckets of old pool balls. Troy gained major brownie points by digging out the 11, 15, and 8 {our wedding date}. All together now, “Awwwwwww!” Of course I was drawn to this leather labrador-silhouette coin purse and wanted to make it mine, but I settled for a photo instead. Isn’t it just the coolest thing?! And speaking of photos, Troy spotted that awesome vintage Big Boy burger statue {right}, so I asked him to pose for a pic. In looking a little closer at this image though, I couldn’t help but laugh at the irony, and I just had to share it with you guys. Teeheehee 🙂 I think we walked about 20 miles as we shopped — at least it felt like it — and by the time we made it to the north end of the grounds, nothing in the world sounded better than BBQ, a cold lemonade, and a shaded picnic table.
Here are some of the fabulous things that were at the show:
1. Vintage grain sack fabrics were everywhere you looked and I forgot to pick some up; boo. // 2. Old glass jars: everything from Ball mason jars to old milk bottles // 3. Gorgeous vintage {um, think 100+ years old} Louis Vuitton luggage. I die. // 4. Even more Louis Vuitton. Troy kept a close eye. // 5. See that cobalt Chanel bag? Ya, I left part of my heart right there in that shop. // 6. Cases full of designer bags from the decades: Chanel, Escada, Hermes…swoon. // 7. One of Troy’s faves: vintage boxes that held everything from ammo to cheese, tobacco, whiskey, and embalming fluid. Ya, you heard me. Ick!
Once we finished browsing the ‘stores’, we went over to the tents and began the labyrinth of awesomeness. The tents contained lots of furniture and home decor, which completely inspired the heck out of me. Who doesn’t love repurposed items and one-of-a-kind finds?8. This pillow. Oh this amazing pillow. Made of French vintage fabric and cloth book pages, I was so close to making this baby mine. So. Close. // 9. Here’s that fabric again, but this time in bold stripes perfectly situated on a reupholstered french piece. // 10. Recycled corbels. Gorg. // 11. Draped linen = amazing backdrop. That print decoupaged flower was a lovely accent. // 12. Textured walls, French furniture, columns, chandeliers, and a burlap banner. Love! // 13. These were all the rave: vintage book pages. Piles of them. 14. I will take one of each, please; beautiful chair + costal accents + glass dome + dough bowl + birds nests // 15. Loving those succulents stored in recycled crates. Also love putting those crates on chic candle holders for a unique elevated tray. The mossy tree branches aren’t too bad either 🙂 // 16. Old tub turned cozy chaise lounge // 17. Vintage baby blocks {I wanted all of these}.
And the last little bits… 18. I want all of this in my house, especially that couch. // 19. Popular: vintage suitcases. // 20. Even Ikat and bold prints made an appearance, and I loved it. // 21. If I told you how many people I saw carrying around oversized sign letters, you wouldn’t believe me. // 22. Loved the mix-and-match china tents, and this teacup ‘tree’ was quite cool. // 23. Vintage carnival items // 24. I purchased everything in this image. Ya, I wish. Those chairs are killer.
So what do you think?? Isn’t it all simply wonderful?? Please take note, folks: The Marburger Farm Antique Show is the bomb dot com. We spent 5 hours there before moving on to a few more places, and I would have totally depleted my bank account if I was able to purchase all of the lovely things that caught my eye. I snagged a few treasures though: Tree branch candle holders {made by a sweet kid named Charlie}, china plates for my dining room wall {more on that later}, bird prints for the bedroom, a Tech garden stake, my favorite find — an old window for above the bed, and a vintage whiskey box to put blankets in {not pictured}.
The antique shows around Round Top and the surrounding areas will be going on through the weekend and I highly suggest you check them out. We had a great time and were fortunate enough to come in WAY under budget and leave with a few great items. Oh, and also a burning desire to go back. Like, now 🙂 Well, maybe not Troy….
