I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I know we did 🙂 Lots of rest, family, and of course food. But you know what all to often comes with the yummy food, Christmas music, festive decorations and peppermint hot chocolate this time of year? Colds. Sinus infections. An increase in doctors visits 🙁 I think I have been feeling crummy for like two weeks now, but this week, just as we kick off the holiday season, I am feeling crummier than ever. Boo. I apologize if I am slower in getting your images completed but I promise I am working through my to-do list as fast as I can {before my nose starts running or I sneeze myself into a frenzy}! All completed digital collections should be mailed out tomorrow {honest!} and holiday card orders are being processed 🙂 Ok, on to the Thread…
1. Reminder – Prints. If any of you are thinking of ordering professional prints, canvases, or other professional-quality items to give as gifts this season, keep in mind that until December 9th, I am offering 15% off all prints and free shipping on print orders over $50! If you would like to order any of these products by Christmas, you must place your orders before December 12. Just email me at chelsea@chelseadavisphoto.com.
2. Gift It! If you are interested in purchasing a CDP gift certificate for someone this holiday season {what a fantastic gift…if I do say so myself, hehe}, I will first, climb through my computer and give you a big ol hug, and second, offer you a little discount to save you some coin! Gift certificates can come in any amount starting at $50, but for a limited time, if you purchase a gift certificate that covers the price of a session fee {$150}, I will knock off $50! So whether you are thinking of giving a friend/loved one a session, or simply want to book a session for your own family, you’ll be saving a little money in the process 🙂 All gift certificates are professionally printed and packaged for perfect holiday gift-giving.
3. Angel. Every year, Troy and I participate in the Angel Tree — either at work, or through an Angel Tree location in our area. I feel beyond blessed this time of year and want to be able to give that feeling to a child or family in need. Unfortunately, I do not have access to the Angel Tree that we have picked from in the past, and I cannot seem to locate another one in the Katy area, at least not yet. So I was wondering, do any of you know of a family in need this season — a Christmas meal, some toys for under the tree? Or at least give some insight as to where we can locate an Angel Tree? I am stumped and would love to continue helping out in this way. Please shoot me an email if you have any ideas!
4. Elf on the Shelf. Have you heard of this? I died when I finally figured out what it was, and I love it! Such a fun way to get kids excited about Christmas, AND keep them on the ‘Nice’ list. My sis-in-law is planning to do this with my 2.5-year old nephew, kicking it off this weekend, and I am really excited to see what that little Elf gets himself in to. Is it bad that I want to do the Elf on a Shelf thing at my house…for…um, Troy? Haha he would soooo not be amused, looking at me with that ‘you are clinical!’ face and shaking his head. Here are some of my favorite ideas {and you can find hundreds more on Pinterest}:
– Play board game with stuffed animal friends or action figures
– Decorate tree with toilet paper
– Paint kid’s nose red – when they wake up, have your elf sit with a photo of Rudolph, telling your kid to go look in the mirror 🙂
– Take/print pictures of your elf and put them all over the house
– Flower ‘snow angels’
– Elf makes breakfast {kitchen is a mess}
5. Christmas Party Rock. I love all of the festive get-togethers this time of year, and next weekend is our annual Christmas Party. Eek! I am so excited about it; I love getting to celebrate with our friends, who are more like family to us. I look forward to this shindig each year, and this time I have a few things up my sleeve to make it extra special. I have been gathering food and drink ideas from Martha Stewart, the Food Network, and of course, Pinterest, and plan to make quite a few festive treats, including a little take-home goodie bag. I have so much to do this weekend to prepare, and I seriously cannot wait 🙂 Do you have any awesome holiday party ideas to share??
6. Photo 101. I mentioned here that I was thinking about hosting a little class about better understanding your DSLR camera and learning to shoot great photos outside of Auto mode. I received some great feedback about it and have decided to offer the class in January, A) because December has turned into a crazy month, and B) so anyone who gets a new camera/lens from Santa can bring it to class with them 🙂 Right now, I have the tentative date set for January 14th from 10-1. I am taking early registration {gosh that sounds so official} right now, and once I receive the necessary number of attendees, I will email out all of the class details — location, time, schedule, etc. — and make it official 🙂 The class will be held in the Houston area. Email me to sign up!
Have a great rest of the week, folks!!
