1. More Dior. I am not a crazy makeup feine, but I do love a good product, and eyeliner is top on the list. I was once told by a flamboyantly enthusiastic makeup guru what all of the ‘best’ makeup products are, and topping the list for dramatic eyewear was all things Christian Dior. Now, I am traditionally a pencil-liner kinda gal, saving liquid for special occasions and times when I have more than 10 minutes to do my makeup, but when the hubs confused my Christmas list and got me this liquid liner instead of this pencil one, I converted full time! So the hubs did good; I love it! It’s hard to tell why by just looking at the photo, but this easy-to-apply applicator makes liquid eyeliner a breeze to do…especially while driving…but I wouldn’t know a thing about that. PLEASE check it out of you are in the market for a dramatic eye. You will not be disappointed.
2. Donde Esta La Biblioteca? So all of TVs popular shows are making their spring debut and I must admit, I’m not really all that excited about them. Maybe it’s because I have been fighting this overwhelming urge to turn off the TV and open a book lately. Gasp! I know, sounds sooooo rebellious, but it’s true. For my birthday, I got this book on Amazon and have been frequently flipping through it. It’s just that kind of read, the flipping-through kind. There’s some pretty major stuff in there though. So good. I also got a few books that may as well be the literary equivalent to watching TV — Chelsea Handler’s Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang and Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me. Not exactly intellectually stimulating, but hilarious and total mindless entertainment nonetheless. Don’t judge 🙂
3. iNeed iPad Aps. HELP! We added ‘iPad’ to the list of Apple products in our house and I can’t seem to find many non-photo-related aps to download. I don’t see the point in downloading the same ones that are on my iPhone because the chances that I have won’t have my phone on me at any given time is kinda slim. So what do you think? What are your favorite iPad aps?? {Note: Troy already downloaded Angry Birds, some silly hunting ap, a Tiger Woods golf ap, Yelp, Facebook, Pandora, and a few generic ones. Any by generic I mean aps that I won’t really flock to.}
4. Wingin’ It. So last week, while I was picking up some stuff for the workshop, I spotted a sign for an estate sale. I normally don’t go to these things, no good reason why, I just don’t really. My friend Erin got an awesome vintage fur hat at one {I think I got that right…}, and a few other friends have been extremely successful with their dinnerware and furniture finds. So on that day, for no good reason, I stopped. Turned around. And parked. I carefully browsed through all of the items and found that estate sales really do kick butt. I had to refreain from buying a few mismatched chairs, some filing cabinets, a terrific mirror, and some paintings — all extremely affordably priced. My bank account thanked me. But I did happen to spot a gem of an item {of course}. And after a little pointless bargaining, it was mine. Pointless in the sense that I first tried to get them to go down on the price, and they soooo were not budging. Then I resorted to the old “Oh, I don’t know. My husband really doesn’t want me spending money right now” thing. Still, nothing. Last and final attempt: the walk away. “Well, let me think about it. I don’t think I can make it happen, but I will let you know if I decide to get it. It’s just a little more than I wanted to spend.” Thinking this would get them anxious to sell at any cost, I started to ‘walk away’. Troy would be so proud of me, working them over like that! But just as I turned to go into another room, the lady behind the register pointed to the customer across from her and shouted, “Oh, just so you know, if you don’t buy it, HE will!” An elderly man grinned at me and I knew I had been beaten. There was no way I was letting him walk away with my fab find — no sir. So I caved…”Ummm….I’ll take it.” So what do you think? Was it worth the failed attempt at haggling??? {pardon the iPhone pic; it’s a golden yellow color, perfect condition, minus the subtle scent of mothballs…}
5. Thread Trend. I think there’s starting to be a little reoccurrence on the Thread lately: food talk. I guess it’s inevitable, since you know, we consume it every day. Troy and I are major foodies, though that’s not a real surprise to those of you who know us. So maybe I will make the foodie bit an official part of the Thread. Whadaya say? OK. Now on to the fare: I feel like such a late bloomer because I hadn’t yet dined at Ouisie’s Table. I’ve heard awesome things about it, but just haven’t been yet. Monday, Troy and I finally got our chance. I thought it was pretty good, but nothing to go nuts over. Maybe it’s what we ordered — a chicken salad sandwich and a BLT {we weren’t starving}, but I just didn’t feel really impressed. Perhaps we should try again and order something a bit more extravagant…? I think a little of my frustration may have to do with the fact that I REALLY wanted to try Tiny Boxwoods {yes, I know, I am THAT much of a late bloomer} but it was closed that day, so we had to sloppy-second it over to Ouisie’s. I may have had a closed mind about the whole experience after that… just maybe.
6. Pencil Me In. I just wanted to put a little note out there that 2012 is already starting to book up {can’t wait!}, so get your session on the calendar if you have a shoot in mind {remember parents, spring break is sooner than you think!} 🙂 Also, I am starting to work with seniors on senior session packages, which for a limited time, are CUSTOMIZABLE! So let’s kick the season off right and start out ahead of the game — ok GO!
