Thursday Thread #30

1. The Fix. Hey Hey Hey! Happy Thursday! Today’s Thread is a little small — sorry! I have been out of town for a few days to attend the FIX, a photography seminar-slash-meet-and-greet-slash-evening-of-awesomeness led by none other than THE Jasmine Star, and I am a little exhausted, running on a few hours of sleep and Starbucks. In fact, because I got to bed so late last night, I am writing this Thread from a table at Starbucks before heading home…oops. I had a blast at the Fix though and I am still beaming from the experience, bursting with ideas about how to better my little business. It was so inspiring and refreshing to see 200 photographers who are all interested in bettering the industry, helping each other grow, and offering a reliable and valuable support system. I can’t wait to start implementing all of my ideas 🙂

 

2. Stuff People Say to Photographers. I can’t help but laugh at this video. A few friends and fellow photographers sent it over and when I saw it, I knew I had to share it with you guys. Whether you come from the perspective of the shooter or the shootee, you HAVE to chuckle at the humor behind it 🙂

 

3. Are You There, Internet? It’s Me, Chelsea. Last night got me thinking about my online presence — the website, facebook, and this blog, and about how important it is for people to get a feel for the person behind the camera. That is why I have a blog, and even more, why I started the weekly Thread — to give you a little insight into who I am when I’m not shooting {all of the crazy randomness that is Chelsea Davis}. And although I get some comments and likes from people on FB and here on the posts, sometimes I can’t help but wonder how many people the Thread actually reaches and how many people actually enjoy it. 5? 10? 50? If I stopped, would anyone notice?! Perhaps I am just writing for me? And Troy of course {cuz I know he reads and ‘likes’ all of my Threads — hehe, thanks Fred!}. Comments and ‘likes’ don’t really count in the great scheme of things, I know that, but after 30 weeks of Thread writing, curiosity has gotten the best of me so I thought I would just put it out there and ask…do you guys like the Thread? Post a comment or simply click ‘like’ to let me know if my crazy random Thursday posts are something you would like to continue seeing…or something you would prefer that I retire 🙂 And just for showing some blog love, I will enter each comment and ‘like’ into a random drawing for a STARBUCKS GIFTCARD! Woot woot! You see a trend today? LOL

 

4. On the drive home today, I think I am going to plug into the Florence + the Machine Pandora station and set the cruise control. If it is possible to love a Pandora station, then this is it. And if you’re having an extra good day, listen to F+TM’s Shake it Out. It’s killer.
