1. Yee Haw. Last night marked our very first rodeo visit this year — whoohoo! We saw Blake Shelton perform, which was great, but the whole concert seemed really short compared to those from years before. Troy thought the same thing, so I don’t think I am going completely crazy. I feel like it was over before it even started 🙁 It was a fun show though, nonetheless, and we enjoyed all the usual rodeo events, like bronc and bull riding, mutton bustin, the calf scramble, and the wagon race. Then, we ate the usual rodeo food {if I told you what we consumed though, you would smack me. In fact, I think I am going to go for a long run to try and burn off some of those calories. But man, it sure tasted good!}. It was a great night with friends {thanks Feff!} and a great break from the crazy week we’ve had. Next week, we continue the fun by going to see Zac Brown Band and I am so so so excited about that one!
2. Break Time. I am in need of a vacation. We BOTH are; Troy and me. It won’t happen for a while but we are starting to talk about destinations and I may need your help. For a girl who has everything from Canada to Australia and Costa Rica to Boston on my list, a little direction wouldn’t hurt. Any suggestions you would be willing to offer? What’s your favorite vacation spot??
3. Good Eats. I haven’t done a restaurant review in a while so I thought I would share a fun spot that we recently discovered in Fulshear. After dinner one night, Troy and I went down the road to a little place called Essence House Cafe for dessert and coffee. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this modest cafe but holy cow their stuff is good. Like majorly good. We have been back a few times now and can’t get enough. Pastry, coffee, cookies, sandwiches, breakfast, everything is amazing, but my favorite is the chocolate croissant. Since Europe, Troy and I hadn’t had a chocolate croissant as good as the ones at Essence House and I have tried to get one every time we’ve been back but they sell out almost instantly. Let that be a sign of how delicious they are. Now go check them out! You will not be disappointed 🙂
4. Wand It Up. I am kind of a hair lover. Good hair makes me smile and sometimes I wish I devoted more time to styling mine. I have never really been one of those girls who spends two hours getting ready though, and these days, throwing it in a ponytail seems to be my thing. That is, until I discovered this little wonder. It’s a curling wand that gives you wavy hair instead of looking all Shirley Temple-ish. It takes some getting used to {and a few burns if you are reckless like me} but I love the results. And the best part? It LASTS. The waves stay for days {I won’t admit how many I got away with} but even in hurricane-force winds like we experienced at the rodeo, my hair kept it’s wave. At less than $30, I would say it’s totally worth it too!
5. Thread Tunes. I can’t stop humming the tune to Domino by Jessie J. Every time I turn on the radio, it’s playing and I find myself doin a pretty major head bob until the chorus hits and that head bob erupts into full on dance party. Good times 🙂
6. Thanks! Thank you for all of the Thread support last week, and every week really 🙂 I will definitely keep it going — because let’s be honest, I probably look forward to it more than anyone! 🙂 And as promised, the winner of a Starbucks gift card is….{drumroll)…
Charlsie Gomez! Charlsie, email me and I will get the gift card in the mail to you. Thanks for supporting the Thread; and thanks to ALL of you!
Have a fantastic rest of the week, folks! Be sure and check back soon for a sneak peek at this fun family session.
