Long roads, patience, faith, love. Now that I think about it, that seems to be the common thread among many, if not all, of the mommies-and-daddies-to-be that I have had the pleasure of working with. As we discuss the details of each maternity session and I learn about their journey to parenthood — many not without some bumps in the road — I am able to witness a strength and an unbelievable love that far exceeds a simple photo shoot. It’s these stories that prove how special a baby bump is, a 30-week ultrasound photo, a tiny pair of baby booties. Things that some may take for granted, but for many others, those ‘things’ are everything. A story that gets a new chapter, a family that will finally have their sweet baby boy. And girl…
That’s right — Tara and Darby are expecting twins 🙂 When Tara contacted me about doing their maternity photos, I couldn’t have been more excited. Their story is an amazing one, with quite an amazing new chapter as they prepare for their little, long-awaited bundles of joy. Sweet, happy joy…
We started the session at Tara and Darby’s home, which has the most AH-mazing back yard and patio area. I mean, just look at that couch. It’s seriously like a little get-away back there, complete with a mini fridge, stereo setup, and lots of places to kick up your feet. Meet Jennie and Maggie May — the two princesses of the house. Aren’t they the cutest?
Then we headed inside for a few shots, which just happen to be some of my all-time favorites.
Tara, you look totally amazing girl! Way to work that baby bump 🙂Melt. my. heart.
The most gorgeous area is located just down the road from Tara and Darby’s home, so after a quick {and awesomely coordinated} outfit change, we headed out for some more shooting. PS LOVED the light that evening!
I give these two MAJOR props on names — how adorable is Tripp and Torrie Leigh????!!!Again, so pretty Tara.
Can you see how much Darby adores his wife?
Loving this sun, aren’t you?
And this one is probably one of my favorites EVER. Tara, you are beaming.
Tara and Darby — meeting you was like hanging out with old friends. Thank you so much for welcoming me into your home, for sharing your story with me, and more importantly, allowing me to photograph this special part of it. You two are truly amazing and I know you will be PHENOMENAL parents to baby Tripp and Torrie Leigh. They are super lucky to have you two. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek 🙂

Oh Chelsea,
What an amazing job you did!! I’m so glad we chose you to capture such a precious moment in our lives. I loved every pic and I know our families will cherish them as well. We had such a great time with the session – felt so relaxed(even in my huge state of being). The day and setting turned out beautiful. You even included our fur-babies! Thanks again!! We can’t wait for you to photograph little Tripp and Torrie when they arrive!!
