1. Lessons + Loot. Last weekend, Troy and I went to the lake with our pals the Kirklands and I learned three things during that trip: 1. I love me a good antique store — especially the small town ones {where they don’t up-charge everything 100%}, 2. Never jump into the lake with your favorite sunglasses on and expect them to stay on your head {R.I.P. Marc Jacobs shades…it was a good almost-four years}, and 3. There is nothing, nothing, that a little sun, cold libations, and good friends can’t cure. To say that I was in desperate need for a get-away is the greatest understatement of the year, and boy did that weekend retreat put me back on track! I have been rallying through my infinite to-do list and am slowly seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. And I have a bit of a tan 🙂 Thank you Julianna and Russ {and Mr. & Mrs. P}!
2. Quacky. Speaking of lakes and outdoorsy-ness, the hubs made a special request for me to give a shoutout to our new favorite show, A&E’s Duck Dynasty, so I thought I would oblige him 🙂 Based on what I’ve seen in the Facebook and Twitter feeds, we aren’t the only ones watching either. It’s catching on, people! I understand that at first glance, this show would seem ridiculous and completely un-entertaning, especially for us gals. However, with every darn episode, I find myself laughing out loud as the family deals with the most absurd conundrums {i.e. frog hunting, bringing home honey from a bee hive, and blowing up beaver dams}. I don’t know if it’s their Southern charm and know-how, or their clever ways of analogizing swamp-life to real life lessons, but we can’t help loving this show. It leaves us feeling happy happy happy 🙂
3. Check. I haven’t updated my 101 in 1001 list lately so I thought I would take a look and see if I have made any progress. I am happy to report that my list is actually doing pretty good! In the past month or two, I have checked quite a few things off, and I am especially excited about accomplishing #78 and #86. It has been really nice having all of my goals ‘jotted down’ and seeing them get done; I really enjoy going back to my list and watching it come to life. It’s the little things, folks! Good news: at the rate I’m going, I should be right on track to complete everything by the time I turn 30 too…with the help of maybe $10k or so…hehe
4. Winner Winner Chicken Dinner. Thank you to those of you who emailed me about the Autism Awareness give-away and submitted your stories/stories of someone you care about. I loved reading them and will announce the winner next week, so stay tuned 🙂
5. Foodie. I haven’t written about food in a while, so I thought I would tell you about my latest culinary obsession {thanks to Jeff!}: Tutti Frutti. It’s a frozen yogurt shop of sorts, but they let YOU be in CHARGE! That’s right folks, you get to be the boss of your yogurty creation! You grab whatever size bowl you want, pick whatever flavor you want, fill your bowl with however much you want, and then…and then…the toppings bar! Whatever you want! With everything from mini Snickers to Fruity Pebbles and fresh fruit, Tutti Frutti’s got you covered. They even have soy yogurt, fat- and sugar-free yogurt, and dairy-free options too. Man, I kind of sound like I consume yogurt by the pound, and by the day there. I assure you that I don’t — I actually prefer a little scoop of yogurt to go along with my heaping piles of fresh fruit, a dash of chocolate chips, and as many shaved almonds as the little cup can hold {best combo ever}. We stop by Tutti Frutti whenever we want to ‘cheat’ on our almost-summer-must-fit-into-our-swimsuits plan because they make me feel like I am not going to gain 100lbs by going there {as opposed to my other local fave — Ooh La La}. So if you have a Tutti Frutti near you, I highly recommend that you go. Like yesterday 🙂
Here is a little snippet from Romona + Freddy’s wedding — the bride and groom smooching underneath her gorgeous veil. I hope it tides you over until tomorrow’s sneak peek! Happy Thursday!
