1. Frio Rio. Last weekend, we set out for Troy’s family cabin in the Texas hill country with a collection of our bestest friends, planning to spend our days on the river doing absolutely nothing. I am happy to report that our plan worked and we ended up having a fantastic time, complete with sno cones, antiquing, and sleeping in. The trip had a lot of ups and only a few downs, like Tess’ run-in with a scorpion and a slew of painful sunburns after a day on the water, but it was definitely a vacay for the books. Feeling super grateful these days, for friends to spend summers with, family members who make trips like these possible, and time away from the everyday craziness. I am also feeling grateful for random antique store treasures, like my new pal Arnie the Armadillo 🙂
2. Guilty. So I did something a little crazy last week… I bought Christmas stuff. Before you judge me for jumping the gun, I felt like I had to get ahead of the Christmas rush, you know, before all the good stuff was gone {or really expensive}. At least that’s what I keep telling myself. I went online and ordered over 100 wooden flowers for my tree re-do {what?}. Of course, I am DYING to see what else I can find when we scour the Antique Fair and the Nutcracker Market 🙂 Oooh, and speaking of guilty, Troy and I recently took advantage of Houston Restaurant Weeks by swinging by Branch Water Tavern. Let me just tell you that this restaurant is SUPERB. You wouldn’t believe how phenomenal the food is, from the appetizers {chicken fried oysters and BBQ bone marrow} to the main course {braised beef shortribs and bacon-wrapped venison}, and even the very last bite of yummy dessert {sticky toffee pudding for Troy and creme fraiche cheesecake for yours truly}. BWT definitely gets my vote on one of the best places to eat. Hands. Down.
3. CDP News. 2012 has been too good to me and we have had a blast working with all of our amazing clients this year, which means my calendar has been cray cray {wow, did I really just say that?}. A heads up though for sessions from now until the end of the year: counting Fridays, we have 1 weekend spot left for September, 2 weekend spots left for October, 4 weekend spots left for November, and 3 weekend spots left for December. I am still booking for the November mini session too {Sun, Nov 4}, so let me know if you’d like to reserve a spot for a regular or mini session! Is it just me, or does everyone feel like 2012 is just flying by…?
4. Thread Tunes. Earlier this week, we sat down to watch our DVR’d recording of The Newsroom {LOVE that show by the way} and I came upon Amy Winehouse’s rendition of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? I love that song and as soon as I heard Amy sing it, I fell in love with this version even more than the original. That girl can saaaang, people!! Give it a listen, and if you’re anything like me, you’ll be humming it for days.
5. Sneak Peek. I have a FULL week of posts scheduled for next week and am pumped to be sharing the rest of what I have been working on this summer. I may be able to sneak in a post tomorrow, but here’s a little glimpse of my queue:
