1. Celebrate! You may have seen my post on Facebook, but last Friday, I went with my friend Sara to BHLDN’s one-year anniversary celebration at their Highland Village store. It was my first time visiting this [fairly] new establishment and I. Fell. In. Love. The store is a vision with gorgeous details in every last inch of that place, the staff is impeccable and as friendly as they are knowledgeable, and the event they hosted was perfection. There were a number of vendors on hand to serve up their specialties, from cakes to music, photo booths to flowers, and every celebratory treat they could conjure up; it was a fantastic way to spend a Friday night with a friend {hello there, alliteration!}. My favorite little bits were the gorgeous BHLDN dresses, the most amazing floral creations by Something Special in Flowers, treats from Araya Artisan Chocolate and Petite Sweets, and of course the Smilebooth setup, which yielded this little number below:
2. It’s Heeeeere! Football is back, folks, and seemingly better than ever. Well, at least better than last year; man I sure hope so! I am a HUGE football fan, but last year the sport left me feeling ready for golf. Or tennis. Or joggling, for that matter. Anything but football! So I am keeping my fingers crossed that we have a good season; from NFL to NCAA, fantasy league to little league. I will be rooting on my Red Raiders this weekend as they take on Northwestern State in Lubbock {wreck ’em, Tech!}, but not before rooting on the Texan’s tonight {IF I can manage to shake/temporarily ease this stupid cold I’ve recently developed…boo}. This should be an entertaining and very interesting year with all of the changes going on and we are pretty excited to watch over the next few months. Are you ready for some football?!
3. Craft Craving. I have been craving a craft project… or two. Ok, 10. Our frenemy Pinterest isn’t helping with this issue either! Or rather, it’s helping a little too much. I can’t get enough of all the adorable fall crafts and good ol DIY projects I’ve seen lately and although I have quite a few on my growing list, I think this will be my next attempt. It has been on my to-do list for almost a year and I think it’s about time to get it done. I hope to also get this and this and this done too, just in time for fall redecorating 🙂
4. Good Eats. Troy and I have recently been away from home a lot more than not, so we’ve had the opportunity to try out a few new spots around Houston to grab a bite. I already told you how much we adore Branch Water Tavern, but we also came across a few others that blew us away, like Dry Creek Cafe, a cozy little burger joint in the Heights that serves the BEST burgers and is a BYOB establishment. Seriously? A burger and a good glass of vino speak right to this girl’s heart. We also managed to stop by Kraftsmen Cafe for lunch recently and found that not only is the atmosphere amazing, the food is even better. I really don’t think I’ve had a better sandwich, or better company {thanks, Troy!}. I really love all of the fun places that Houston has to offer, and I can’t wait to try out a few more. Have any recommendations for me??
5. Thread Tunes. I’m thinking of going back, waaaaaaay back this week. Maybe it’s the FB message I got about my 10-year high school reunion {eek!}, or the recent talk of a Dawson’s Creek reunion, but I’m feeling like a throwback is in order. So, this week’s Thread Tune is the entire #1’s album by Mariah Carey, because sometimes it’s nice to escape for a bit and reminisce about the good ol days, when your biggest worries were how frayed you could get your jean hems, and what was going to happen with Ross and Rachel…
I am going to keep the posts coming, with another one scheduled to hit the blog tomorrow. We’ve had a crazy few weeks with family stuff and I am a smidge behind schedule, but working quickly to make sure everything stays on track. Thanks to my awesome clients and all of you readers who are being patient with me! If I could reach through my computer and give you each a hug, I so would.
