Hellooooo there! I’m feeling much better this week; a lot cheerier. A lot more hopeful 🙂 I’m sure everyone who knows me is happy about that {sorry Troy}! I am back to being a busy bee, and as promised, we shall return to our regularly scheduled sunshine and rainbows, and speaking of sunshine and rainbows…
1. Happy Birthday, Tessy Girl! I love this pup. I don’t know that there’s another dog in the world like her and since day one, I have been completely smitten with her. In fact, most people are too when they meet her. Tess is my morning cuddler, evening napper, extreme lover of tennis balls and water hoses, slobbery-kiss giver, totally committed daddy’s girl, and my favorite little polar bear. She’s as sweet as peach pie and as stubborn as a deaf mule, and she’s all mine ours. 75lbs of fluffy white lovin’. She turns three on Saturday and we plan to celebrate with a special trip to the puppy store and a morning run for our girl. Happy 3rd birthday, Tess bug!! Tradition for the past 3 years has it that the birthday girl wears her special bday hat made by my sis Lindsey, and so it continues, along with the obvious frustration of having to wear the hat:Â
2. Updated 101 in 1001. The other day, I was reminded of my 101 in 1001 list and felt the need to update it. I am pretty happy with progress, crossing off 29 items already {that’s over a quarter of the way done!}. I recently crossed off 40, 51, and 89 and am hoping to to cross off a few more in the next month 🙂 Hey hey heyyyyyy! Progress is slow but super sweet, folks! It’s nice to see my goals outlined and how they change over time {oh boy do they}. On the other hand, I’ve been learning the hard way lately that sometimes you can’t make lists and plan for everything, no matter how much you want to ‘cross it off your list’. Fear seeps in at the thought of how much I may not accomplish and I have to keep reminding myself that there’s a Greater Plan and I have absolutely nothing to say about it. Highlighter, sticky notes, or otherwise. And if I really commit to that understanding, I admit it feels completely freeing.
3. Craftastic. I told you I’ve been feeling rather crafty lately, so I put my Pinterest boards to action and decided to make this little lovely. I am SO happy with how it turned out! It was easy to make, easy to customize, and way affordable. I love that I can use it to hang seasonal signage, cute wreaths, or even a Tech flag 🙂 I have to warn you though, the site that we used for our specs and how-to wasn’t exactly accurate so I wanted to tell you what we did, in case you want to make one of your own! We went to Home Depot and grabbed (1) 4×4, (1) 1×6, and (1) 1×8, a hook, and paint samples in the color(s) we wanted {there’s enough wood to make two stands so I made one for my friend Faren too!}. I already had a saw, screws, sand paper, and paint brushes on hand. We cut the 4×4 to be 3′ tall, then cut (2) 8″x8″ square pieces from the 1×8, and (2) 6″x6″ square pieces from the 1×6 {double the amount of squares if you decide to make two stands}. NOTE: the wood isn’t exact in size when you get it from the store {imagine my astonishment when Troy told me} so your square pieces will really measure a half inch smaller. Stack the larger square on top of the small square, center them, then screw them to the end of the 4×4. Repeat for the other end. Now it’s time to paint. I did a coat of white first, then applied two coats of brown for my stand and red for Faren’s. Once the paint dried, I used sand paper to rough up the edges a bit. Attach the hook and a cute sign {which can be made from pieces of the leftover 1×6 or 1×8} and there you have it! What do YOU think {don’t judge the iPhone pics}???? I still need to paint something on the little sign, but at least I got it this far!
4. Class-y. I put some feelers out last week on FB for a smaller, more cozy workshop for camera enthusiasts wanting to learn more about shooting, specifically all of the fun events and moments that are sure to come in the months ahead {school events, holidays, etc} — stuff that you want to capture accurately and preserve for years to come. I mean, who likes a blurry or orange-hued photo? I was really happy with the response, so I wanted to throw a few dates out there and see what you think. I am considering 9am-12pm October 6, 7, or November 11 — thoughts?? In order for the class to be under $100pp, the plan is to have it in Katy, so if you think you may want to attend, write your choice for a date in the comments section!
5. Thread Tunes. It’s pretty obvi that I have a healthy obsession with the musical amazingness that is Mumford and Sons. So naturally, I can’t get enough of their newest song, I Will Wait {major thanks to my pal, Julianna, for telling me about it a few weeks ago!}. It’s such a greaaaaat song and the lyrics are spot on, so if it’s any indication as to what’s to come with their next album {due out Sept 25!}, then I just might superglue my headphones to my ears and slip into a musical coma…what? Too much?
6. Sneak Peek. Tomorrow, I will share Part II of the Sehion family session, and early next week — this sweet family:
