1. On a Roll. I told you guys last week that we put our craftiness to work to make two really cute posts to display signs or wreaths on our front porch, and this week we are at it again! After going up-down-and-all-around about what to do with our dining room — custom built-ins, bar/no-bar, open shelving or cabinets — and after getting one insanely high quote after the other, we decided to go the more budget-friendly route, which required a lot more creativity…and elbow grease. Saturday and Sunday were spent browsing Craigslist in search of a cabinet that was almost as big as a built-in, without the price tag. After a few dozen listings, we lucked out and found a HUGE china cabinet that we are currently refinishing and painting. We’ve had a few hiccups in the restoration process, but after sanding, priming, and painting the first coat, it already looks FANTASTIC and I am so excited about the final product. Looking forward to sharing it with you next week! And you want to know what’s great about saving thousands of dollars by going the affordable elbow-grease route? Troy is considering letting me do the dining room floors in hardwood to match the rest of the downstairs! Gah! I’m so excited 🙂 Craigslist – 1, flooring guys – 1, the Davis’ – 2… and the crazy expensive cabinet guys – 0! BOOM!!
2. Fall For All?? If you can, take 5 min and go sit outside today…because what is UP with this AMAZING weather? 72 degrees right now? I’ll take it! I may be pushing it, but do you think I can get away with rocking a scarf and a pair of riding boots today? Please?? Let’s get this show on the road already, Mother Nature! Enough with the fake-outs. I guess it’s no secret that I can’t wait for cooler weather to get her permanently; you know you can’t blame me either. I want to run through the streets yelling “Pumpkin Spice Lattes for EVERYONE!” 🙂 OK maybe not, but if you were to ask me out for a coffe/PSL date in weather like today, I would so not pass you up. I’d probably even buy. Try me…
3. A Very Happy Birthday. Saturday, one of my oldest and bestest friends is having a birthday and although I can’t be there to celebrate with her, I want to give a HUGE Happy Birthday shout-out to my pal Allison. Lots of love, friend 🙂 I hope it’s the best one yet!
