1. Out of Service. Between jury duty that never seemed to end and a head cold of the same nature, I have been pretty out of commission this week. I haven’t been able to make too much progress, regardless of the number of coffees I consume, but I see hope in next week’s fairly-empty schedule. I am also starting to see an opportunity for an assistant-slash-office manager-slash-lifesaver…any takers? Will pay in Starbucks gift cards and cupcakes.
2. Time for Prime. Now that fall is in full swing, or so it seems, that means all of our favorite shows are back: Modern Family, Boardwalk Empire, Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother — the list goes on and on. We recently switched our cable provider and decided to write down all of our scheduled recorded shows so we won’t forget to record them after the switch. Twenty. That’s how many shows we wrote down to record, give or take a few. That’s pretty bad, huh? And what’s worse, nearly a quarter of those are RHONYC/OC/Beverly Hills/NJ {which by the way, is cray cray this season! Teresa is officially 110% nuts}. I wish I could say I read half as many books! I just haven’t found any that seemed like good enough reads; good enough to close my computer and turn away from the telly. Have any recommendations?? I need an intervention, folks! 🙁
3. Change Up. I have been itching for a change around here, and since the hubs won’t let me move {hehe}, we decided to do some re-decorating. I don’t really know why on earth we thought we would have the time to do such a thing, but it’s not out of character for us to overload our plate. So needless to say, we have been very busy, in between work and our regular to-do lists, and into the wee hours of the night, working on updating and re-doing our dining room. I am so excited about the progress we have made and it is nearing completion, but this endeavor has been trying, to say the least, mostly due to the biggest project on our list. Refinishing a gigantic china cabinet is NOT for the weary, folks. Or the easily frustrated. Or the perfectionist. But after 8 days and 10 trips to Home Depot — yes, 10 — the cabinet sits proudly in its new spot at the head of the room, looking pretty darn good if I do say so myself 🙂 We will be finishing things up in a week or so, so if you’d like to see what we’ve been up to, look for photos in my next Thread!
4. Thread Tunes. The day has arrived. Mumford & Sons’ latest album Babel hit stores on Tuesday and even though jury duty delayed my purchase, I sure snagged that puppy up as fast as I could. I’ve already listened to it at least 5 times through, and burned it to my car’s library {favorites list — what what!} so I could hand it over to Troy for his listening pleasure. I love every single track, but my favorites so far are #5, and #9, and #1…”Cuz I know my weakness know my voice, but I believe in grace and choice; And I know perhaps my heart is farce, but I’ll be born without a mask.”
5. Sneak Peek. Next week, I will be sharing a snippet from Kelly + Adam’s Petroleum Club wedding. It was a stunning, romantic event, ending with one heck of a party. We were surrounded by the most incredible view of Houston’s night sky and Troy snagged this photo of the newlyweds, lit only by the glow of city lights and a few candles. Love it…
