1. Giving Thanks. I know I have said it a few times over the past few weeks, but I am overwhelmed and so humbled by all of the love and support you guys have shown me after the passing of my dad. Between cards, flowers, notes, texts, emails, and a few hugs, I can’t help but smile through the pain knowing that I am very blessed. Your concern and thoughtfulness has helped make this difficult time seem a little easier to get through and I hope I get the opportunity to show and and every one of you how thankful I am. Turkey dinner at my house soon?? π
2. Game Time. I have to give a big shout-out to my Red Raiders who have done so great this season, especially after that MASSIVE win slaughter of then-#5 WVU! What a game, Tech! I am officially excited about football again {last year’s season made me run for the hills crying} and am looking forward to playing TCU this week. Wreck Em, Tech!!!
3. Hip Slip. I have invested in quite a few bags and things for the biz with the hopes of making my life a little easier, when flying with all my gear, during shoots, transporting gear from A to B, etc. I never travel without my laptop and usually just toss it in with my gear {eek} or zip it into a laptop sleeve along with my hard drive, a pen, power cord, and sometimes even my phone or keys. I know cramming all that junk into a simple sleeve is horrible for my metal laptop but what choice did I have other than a big bulky tote or computer bag? Or so I thought. Shortly after returning home from MA, I received an email from one of my favorite companies, Shootsac, providing the perfect solution to my sub-par laptop toting troubles: the Hip Slip — a laptop “sleeve with benefits”. It’s friggin awesome with its sleek design, variety of compartments, extra protection for my laptop, and the option for a cross-body strap. It’s perfect, right? If you have an attached-at-the-hip relationship with your laptop like I do, I seriously don’t see how any other bag is better than this. Of course I ordered it once I realized that the Hip Slip was $10 off, and I have been using it since it showed up on my doorstep. Shootsac is still selling the Hip Slip for $10 off so if you are in the market, I highly recommend checking out this product.
4. CDP News. It’s officially fall and that means the holidays are really close. Like, creepy close. I know how many of you like to update your family photo around this time, so if you still haven’t booked a session, now’s the time! I have a handfull of spots left for the rest of the year and they are filling up fast so shoot me an email if you’d like to know what’s available and we will get you all set up! On another note, we are looking to fill one or two more spots for the Nov 11 workshop and would LOVE to have you join us. I am still offering the 20% discount, so get in touch with me if you would like to join us! It’s going to be an afternoon full of all things photography {and a few goodies too!}.
5. Thread Tunes. All I have really been listening to the past few weeks is my new Mumford and Sons CD and artists that remind me of my dad {pretty much anything southern rock}. I have made M&S my Thread Tune like a half million times, so that means this week southern rock wins by default π There are so many good songs I’ve revisited lately, but Simple Man has really stuck out over the past few weeks. It’s such a great song. I know it’s a little different than my usual picks, but there’s your tune for this week — Lynyrd Skynyrd’s song Simple Man. Enjoy π
6. Sneak Peek. Since I took a little time off, I have been chomping at the bit {wow, thatβs a reference to my mom for sure} to share the images from my most recent sessions, particularly the ones of this adorable little newborn Caleb. Check back tomorrow to view the full sneak peek and ooh and ahh over him like I did!
