Is anyone else glad that this week is almost over? On top of being totally burnt out by all of the political craziness, I feel like I have been trying to do the impossible lately! But God willing, everything is getting done {my blood pressure is back to normal} and progress is being made — I’m talking 5 mini sessions, 3 regular sessions, and the rest of a wedding, all edited in one week folks! This gal is tiiiiiiired. But enough boo-hooing from me; let’s get to it —
1. Pigs are Flying! I never thought I would see the day, even though I prayed for it for months and months: Pinterest officially announced that you can now make secret boards!!! WAHOOO!!!! Why is this important, do you ask? Some examples: when planning baby/wedding shower ideas that you want to keep a surprise for the person of honor, when trying to come up with *unique* party-planning ideas, if you are expecting a little one and don’t want to tell anyone yet but can’t resist pinning that cute onesie or nursery idea, or from a photography standpoint, when a client wants you to create an inspiration board for them that they don’t exactly want everyone to see. And what about the holidays? Hellooooo gift-giving ideas! I just think this is so super cool and I am giving Pinterest a virtual high five and body bump for this awesome feature. They are currently only allowing three secret boards, so go check out the deets on this blog post.
2. Curve Ball. I went to Hobby Lobby this week. Normally that would be a HUGE mistake. Especially with all of the holiday stuff at 50% off. But you’d be proud to know that I walked out of there spending less than $20, and that was only on items for my workshop this weekend. Heeeeey! I don’t know what it is this year, but I am so not in the mood to decorate like a maniac for the holidays. I am going with simple. Simple, simple, simple. So simple in fact, that I told Troy that I am not even adorning our tree with the hundreds of glittery ornaments we have. Nope. I am going all minimalist on that tree of ours, opting for just white lights and some really cool wooden flowers I bought online. If you know me, that’s kinda crazy, huh? So is anyone else out there changing things up this year too? If so, tell me about it!
3. Leavin’ on a Jetplane, Or In My Car. Troy and I have been talking about taking a little vacay in the next few months and have no idea where to go. He wants to stay local, i.e. in the states, and I am itching to have some sand between my toes and a maitai in my hands. Needless to say, we have gotten nowhere with our plans, so I am asking you for help 🙂 Where do you think the Davis’ should head for a little R&R {and there HAS to be R&R, no climbing of Mt. Everest or hiking through the Redwood Forest, folks!}? OK go!
4. Thread Tunes. More reality TV nods 🙂 After seeing Sylvia Yacoub’s rendition of Katy Perry’s song “The One That Got Away” last night on The Voice, I knew it would be my choice for this week’s Tune. Even if even you don’t like the song, you have to watch her performance via YouTube. Dude, this girl is AMAZING! Side note, Carly Rose Sonenclar on the X Factor did an equally awesome job covering Bruno Mars’ song “It Will Rain” — and she is only 13! These peeps have some serious talent.
5. Sneak Peek. I have a few sessions coming down the line for the blog, so here’s a little glimpse! Sharon + Scott’s engagement and Leah + Kade’s couples session:
