Man, it feels good to be back! With our anniversary, then Thanksgiving, my traditional Thread post went to the back burner, so this week, I am going to attempt to give you all sorts of Thread goodness 🙂
1. Wrapping up 2012. As the year winds down, I have been working feverishly to finish up all of the photo editing from my recent sessions and get your orders on their way to you so you can have them well before Christmas. The goal is to be finished with nearly everything by close of business on Dec 10.  Print orders are the only exception, but they still need to be submitted by Dec 10 in order to guarantee delivery by Christmas. Canvas orders need to be placed as soon as possible, since their shipping schedules are a little longer. Sooooo, that means that if you haven’t placed your order, you better get on it! 🙂 Let me also say that I am beyond thrilled about how many of you are planning to use your images for Christmas cards and gifts for your loved ones — I love that you are excited about your photos; it makes my heart grow three sizes!
2. Favorite Things. I’m not Oprah, and no, you aren’t getting a car. Or a trip to Australia. I just thought it may be fun to show you guys a few of my favorite gift items this season, and maybe give you a few ideas to wrap up your shopping list 🙂 1. For your iPhone // 2. For the doodler  // 3. For the bold // 4. For the chic // 5. For the drink enthusiast // 6. For the bartender // 7. For the handyman // 8. For the organizer // 9. For the hostess // 10. For the music lover // 12. For the traveler // 13. For the stylish // 14. For the cook // 15. For the throwback
3. My Two Cents on TV. Yes, I know. I watch too much TV and need to pick up a book. But in the midst of the busiest season of the year, TV chatter is about the only thing that keeps me from going crazy 🙂 That said, I have been watching way more than normal and I blame that on our new service, Dish Network, whose genius marketing team made it to where their system automatically records ALL primetime shows without me having to set my DVR. Every single show. Genius. That means that when I’m up editing at midnight with nothing to watch, all I have to do is surf through the prime time selection from that week and I’ve got a slew of options. In light of this phenomenon, I have started watching shows like Nashville, Parenthood, The Good Wife, Amazing Race, and Happy Endings {to name a few}, and let me tell ya, these shows put many of my regularly-viewed shows to major shame {i.e. I am soooo ready to retire Grey’s Anatomy}. My two cents: Nashville: drama without the cheese + great singing; Parenthood: holy-boxes-of-kleenex, folks, it’a tear-jerker, but oh so good; The Good Wife: smart, witty, great cast and storyline; Amazing Race: game play, smarts, ability, and a lot of luck. I have ALWAYS wanted to go on this show; Happy Endings: hahahahahahahah laugh fest every. single. time.
4. Black Friday. Last week, we spent Thanksgiving with my in-laws’ house and that evening, we braved the crowds at Target for a little black Friday shopping. I figured if they opened the doors at 9pm this year, that was a lot easier to handle than waking up at 2am in a sleepy, coffee-fueled frenzy with the rest of the crazies. I really enjoyed the change in pace too, and our brand new crew members — two of my sis-in-laws and my niece {Troy was there too; he always goes with me, brave soul}. None of us had any must-have items in mind; we really just wanted to see what we could get for a good deal. What resulted was a cart loaded with everything from kid’s clothing, DVDs, a sweet firepit, and….about 12 electric toothbrushes. Yep. You would have thought we were all overzealous dentists. Or obsessively hygienic. I kid you not, we had more toothbrushes in that cart at one time than any of the other items combined. Why? Who the heck knows. Maybe because they were a great deal at half off {$37 vs $75}, or because we were sleep deprived and the idea of picking an item and gunning for it sounded like a fantastic idea. Either way, everyone is getting a shiny new electric toothbrush in their stocking this year 🙂
5. Thread Tunes. December is literally days away, but the holiday music has been blaring in our house for about a month now. I love Christmas songs. Every single one of them. But one song in particular has been played a little more than the others: Dominick the Donkey. It was my dad’s favorite Christmas song, about a donkey who helps Santa bring presents to children in Italy. My dad’s family is Italian,  so naturally, this song would have a place among them, but it also has a very special place in my heart, especially this season. It’s a really cute, catchy tune and if you give it a listen, I bet you catch yourself singing “chingedy ching hee haw hee haw” !! Check it out on YouTube; this video is actually one of the best ones of this song, and it’s pretty funny 🙂 Buon Natale, Dad!
Check back tomorrow for a post on the latest CDP workshop! Until then, have a happy Thursday, folks!
