1. Going to the Market. I am so ready for the weekend! It’s shaping up to be a good one, and I am ready to get this show on the road 🙂 One of the things I am most looking forward to is the Urban Market. It’s Saturday and Sunday and is sure to be bursting at the seams with fantastic finds, beautiful antiques, and lots of inspiration. I hope the weather holds up for a nice day, but if not, I will still be there — rainboots on and umbrella in hand. If you have a little time to kill, you should go check it out!
2. CDP News. In case you missed it, I am offering a set of spring mini sessions in March {which never happens; they are always in the fall!} and there is one spot left! It’s a great deal if you would like to capture your family in a fairly quick session {which work great for kiddos} and get a nice collection of digital images. And what’s even better, I am giving away one mini session spot for free! Details are listed here, so go sign up if you’d like to win! Share it with your pals too, because you never know who may need some updated photos 🙂 Give-away ends tomorrow!
3. Lovey Dovey. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and it’s hard to tell if the world is in as much of a frenzy over this holiday as it has been in the past. My inbox isn’t flooded with emails from online florists, I can actually go to Target without an onslaught of pink and red, and even Pinterest seems to be pretty sparse on the V-Day pins. It’s kind of nice, I admit, because we aren’t big Valentines-ers. My parents always MAJORLY downplayed this ‘commercial holiday’ and kept gift-giving to a low, usually giving us kids a nice box of conversation hearts and a sweet note. So I never really grew up expecting a big vase of flowers, expensive jewelry, or a fancy dinner. That’s what anniversaries and birthdays are for 🙂 ehem. My family is visiting next week and will be here for V-Day, so I am thinking a nice dinner at home sounds pretty substantial — BUT, if I were of the V-day kind and thought about giving a love-filled gift to my valentine, these are a few fun options that I think he would appreciate: A valentine, some candy, something to wear, something from the heart.
4. Happy Birthday! One of my besties has a birthday on Sunday, so I wanted to wish her a very happy and special day from my little corner of the internet 🙂 Tillykke med fødselsdagen, Loo!!! 😉 You are one in a million and I heart you so much, friend. Can’t wait to celebrate with you this weekend!
5. The Light that Shines. As many of you know, cancer has greatly affected my family through my dad’s difficult battle, and I am constantly moved by stories of others who are battling this horrible disease head-on, inspiring others to better understand it and do what they can to find a cure for it. It’s so very important. So this morning, I saw an interview on the Today show featuring a woman, Jill Brzezinski-Conley, who was diagnosed with breast cancer just months after getting married. She underwent 16 rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, a double mastectomy, and surgery to remove a breast implant that had become infected. After being in remission for a year, Jill was told that the cancer had returned and was diagnosed with incurable stage-4 breast cancer that has metastasized to her bones. Watching her talk about her journey, I couldn’t believe how inspiring this woman was. It’s clear that Jill has incredible strength, and now, thanks to her long-time friend and photographer, Nikki Closser, Jill has some of the most amazingly beautiful and moving photographs by the Sue Bryce to go along with her story. You can read more about the details here and I highly recommend that you watch the documentary posted below, The Light That Shines, which captures Jill’s story and the fabulous Parisian photo shoot with Sue Bryce. It will move you to tears.
