1. Troy has the flu. Super bummer. And it’s bad…real bad. I could use this whole blog post to rant about how horrible the flu is, how much I hate it and wish it would get wiped off the earth, but I suppose I should spare you…but just a little. Seriously though, I don’t think I have ever seen it hit someone this bad. Poor hubs. He has been held up in the spare bedroom since Monday with only an iPad and a prayer. We talk across the walkway to each other when he emerges from the flu cave, but I have to keep my distance so I don’t get sick and THAT is the hard part. I want to take care of him but all I can do is run errands for him and make him soup, delivering meals and medicine via our trusty ‘sick tray’ that I have to leave outside his room. And I seriously doubt I have washed my hands more in my whole life. Howie Mandel would be so proud, and probably have major envy over my face mask and gloves…yep. I have gloves. Needless to say, this week has been a doozie. Complete hell. For both of us. Silver lining: I realize how much Troy does for me and how lucky I have been, especially the past few months when I couldn’t stomach making dinner, doing dishes, or even getting out of bed some days. Having to do everything around the casa this week, while taking care of the pups, running to CVS {we are on trip 4 already folks}, and trying everything short of a hazmat suit to keep from contracting this virus has been rough. And I feel like I haven’t gotten any work done 🙁 That said, if you are waiting patiently for me to reply to an email, send stuff to you, answer a text, or finish your session/event — I send my greatest apologies and ask for your patience as we fight through this hell of a sickness. I have the best friends and clients so I know you guys understand, and for that I send all of you a big ol thank-you hug {face mask and gloves included, of course}.
2. Zulily, what whaaat?? So my SIL just told me last week about a sweet sale going on at Zulily and I didn’t really feel a super sense of urgency since I hadn’t really ever shopped the site. I headed over and signed up though — what could it hurt?? — and found that this site has some serious awesomeness going on. It’s kind of like Groupon for fashionistas and shopaholics, but quantities are super limited so you get a thrill out of speed shopping to guarantee you secure your finds. From the website, they are an “online store offering daily sales events on top-quality apparel, gear and other goodies for moms, babies and kids. We carry the best brands at the lowest prices. Members enjoy savings of up to 90% off retail prices.” All kinds of vendors are featured on Zulily each week, each with great sales on everything from children’s clothes to maternity wear, purses, jewelry, shoes, beauty products, and household goodies. I admit I have made a few purchases on there already and can’t wait to get my loot in the mail 🙂 So what are you waiting for? Get to shoppin’!
3. Extra! Extra! Last week, we made a pretty big announcement and are so excited to share the news with all of you! Now that the cat is out of the bag, I wanted to let you know that this doesn’t change much for CDP — I will still be shooting the sessions we have booked this spring but will be taking time off from June-August. I plan to hit the ground running in September though, with fabulous fall sessions, another round of minis, and possibly a workshop. All CDP news will continue to show up here on the blog and on the FB page, so be sure to keep in touch for the latest and greatest 🙂 Last, I have very limited booking remaining for this spring (March – May) so if you are wanting to get a session in, please email me asap to get on the calendar!!
4. High Fives. As if she wasn’t already a superhero in my book, lately I want to high-five-chest-bump Adele for being so totally awesome at giving acceptance speeches, particularly of the Oscar sort. She is completely nutty every single time and I love the genuineness behind it. Now taking friend requests from hilarious British soul singers….{crickets}. Much to my hubby’s disappointment I’m sure, I am giving a big high-five to the entire online shopping industry today, who makes it totally possible for a grieving shoe widow to do some retail therapy on a whim in an effort to alleviate her pain of losing an almost brand-new pair of irreplaceable and lovely shoes to her crazy dog {my apologies to some of you for my bringing it up again after a heavy ranting on FB}. I wasn’t able to get my original shoes back, but I sure did smile a bit when a new box arrived on my porch less than 24hrs after clicking ‘purchase’. Love you, internet. And for inquiring minds, Huck is still residing with us but is in the dog house until further notice 🙂 The last high five of the week goes to Sean The Bachelor — first for kicking off crazy Tierra {I can NOT control my eyebrow!!!} and for picking two of my faves for the finale. I haven’t watched the show since high school but this season reeled me in and I kinda sorta like it…just kinda.
5. Thread Tunes. Maybe it’s the fact that the Houston Rodeo officially kicked off last week, but I can’t seem to get away from country music lately. And I’m lovin‘ it. We got to see Josh Abbott Band and Cory Morrow at the BBQ cookoff, which was like a super blast to our college past! Cory Morrow is definitely one of Troy’s faves and seeing him in concert after all these years was really great, so why not share one of our favorite CM songs with y’all today? – Beat of Your Heart — an oldie but a goodie… Oooh! I am also super pumped that Alabama Shakes’ album Boys & Girls is settling nicely in the tops of the iTunes charts! They were number 1 last week, perhaps due in part to their recent Grammy nomination and lead singer Brittany Howard’s part in the “The Weight” tribute?? I can’t get enough of their music and am so happy they are getting a lot of attention! So there you have it: two {totally different} tunes for this week 🙂
Hoping to get back on top of things next week once the flu bug vacates our house and our lives can get back in order. Thanks for hanging in there with us 🙂
