1. Heart Heavy. I can’t help but have a heavy heart over all of this week’s recent tragedies, the first in Boston where many of my loved ones live, and then again last night, in West, TX, a place so close to home and one that we drive through often. It has been a time of great thankfulness in our house, hugging our loved ones extra tight, and prayer. Lots of prayer. “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble” (Psalm 46:1). Bad things happen every day, all across the world , but when it hits so close to home, it really weighs on your heart. I keep trying to think of ways I can help and I know that blood donation is a big one. I did stumble upon these cute Texas tees + tanks this morning, with all proceeds going to the Red Cross Disaster Relief. Such a great idea! And I am super proud of new NE Patriot and former Tech football player Danny Amendola for his support. Every bit helps! If you know of any additional ways to help/contribute, please comment and let us know. Just keep sending your thoughts and prayers to those in Boston and West, to the victims, families, support personnel, and volunteers.
2. Work It. I have been busy crafting away in the nursery, getting ready for June and trying to put all the finishing touches in place. For the most part, this room is pretty much one big DIY project, from the furniture to the artwork, I have spent more time covered in paint and glue than I care to admit. But it has been a blast. Everyone I know who has an adorable nursery has had to put some amount of elbow grease into creating the perfect space for their little one, so I knew it would be a must. It’s hard to imagine that there will be a little person in there sooner than later…eek! We can’t wait 🙂 Here are a few shots of me and the hubs hard at work:
3. High Fives. I am super pumped about a few things this week and thought I would share: 1) Game of Thrones; it’s been back a few weeks and is already better than ever, and so intense already! I hear that if the show is anything like the book, us viewers are in for a heck of a season. Can’t wait!!! My money is on the dragons… 2) Zoe’s Kitchen. One opened up in the shopping center near us {way to go, Katy!} and I have been eager to eat there. We stopped by last night but they were closed due to electrical problems — wah wah — but my fingers are crossed that we can stop by this weekend. I hear it’s gooooood. 3) Tums. Yes, the calcium tablets. I have a pack in my car, purse, bedside table, camera bag…they are saving. my. life. lately…TMI? #preggoproblems! 4) The Newest Otterbox Defender Cases. A few weeks ago, I accidentally drop-kicked my brand new iPhone 5 into my mom’s dogs’ water bowl after sticking my foot out in an attempt to break its fall, and my heart sank with it. I yanked it from the bowl and dried it off as fast as I could, assuming that the two exposed parts of the phone {the speakers} would be fried; the Otterbox seemed to shield the rest of the phone. A few hours later, I discovered that I couldn’t hear anyone when making a phone call, unless they were on speaker. Major bummer. That is, until I restarted my phone a day later. It worked!!!! Otterbox, you rock. Sooo worth the $$. If you spend any amount of time near water, small children, toilets, or dog bowls, I highly recommend you get an Otterbox Defender. Your phone will thank you…and so will your husband once he realizes the enormous replacement fee you just avoided… 🙂
4. Thread Tunes. We watched the American Country Awards a few weeks ago and I loved all of the performances, especially Highway Don’t Care with Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, and Keith Urban. I love this song, and didn’t even realized that T-Swift was the female voice in it until I Googled! Personally, I think it’s one of her best sounding songs — she seems to do really well when featured alongside other artists like Tim McGraw and John Mayer. So this week’s tune for your enjoyment is Highway Don’t Care.
We will be shooting TWO weddings this weekend, starting tomorrow, so I will have lots to share next week! Until then, have a great day and don’t forget to hug your loved ones 🙂
