First thing’s first: I need your help! I recently posted on my personal Facebook page that I am collecting toys to donate, and I decided to hit the blog to see if any of you lovely folks could help 🙂 My mom helps run a school in Denton, TX for children with autism and since the school is so new, they are in desperate need of children’s toys — for ALL ages. Seriously, any and every toy that you are willing to donate would be so greatly appreciated. And I can meet you to pick them up! Just shoot me an email and we can make arrangements. Thank you in advance! Your donations are going to help out so much.
1. Many Thanks. As I get back into the swing of things, it’s hard not to feel an enormous amount of appreciation for all of you who showered us with support and love as we prepared for and then welcomed our Bree. The number of emails, Facebook messages, texts, and phone calls was so touching. Truly. I really do believe that I have the best clients/readers/friends 🙂 I am also incredibly grateful for those of you who waited for my return from leave to book your session. It may not have been convenient to hold off until the fall — I know how busy that time of year is for everyone — but it makes me feel so honored that people would purposely wait to book a session until I was back, just so I could shoot for them. What a compliment! I was sad to have had to miss out on working with some of my oldest clients while I was out on leave (you can’t really postpone a newborn session, can you?!?!) but there’s always next time, right? 🙂 Seriously though, my heart is bursting with gratitude and appreciation for what I do because of who I get to work with. You guys are awesome. Sending a big ol internet hug your way.
2. CDP News. I am looking at adding another workshop for those of you who are interested in learning more about your DSLR. The workshops that we have held in the past were so much fun and it has been a little while since the last one (almost a year!), making it the perfect time for another. Several people have inquired about the workshop and I am in the process of setting it up and getting a list of attendees together, so if you think you’d like to join us, shoot me an email and I will keep you posted 🙂 We are looking at September dates. Also, if you have specific topics that you would like for me to cover, let me know. I am all ears and would love to hear about what you’re interested in learning.
3. Are You Ready For Some Football?? Can I get a woooohooo for football season officially starting this weekend?! Our Red Raiders kick things off for the college season with a Friday game against SMU — can’t wait! We are chomping at the bit to see how the team does. I am hoping for nothing but great things this season with our brand new coach (and fellow Red Raider) and a whole new vibe surrounding Tech. Raiderland is getting geared up, the media is buzzing, and fans are more excited than ever. We haven’t been this pumped since….um….’08?? Plus, we have a new little Red Raider in the house, with an adorable little collection of Tech outfits to sport while watching the games. That in itself is pretty exciting 🙂 I already have her first one picked out too — Wreck Em!!
4. Juiced. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that Troy and I have become a little obsessed with juicing raw veggies. I admit that we can be a little overzealous when it comes to trying new ways to eat healthy but this new adventure of ours has been really fun, and surprisingly yummy! Troy had mentioned the idea of getting a juicer in the past, but I thought it was a ridiculous waste of money. Silly me, I never knew that freshly juiced veggies and fruit could be so good! It all started with a trip to Whole Foods to grab breakfast before heading to the farmer’s market, where a bottle of Green-aid (fresh juice made by Whole Foods, consisting of kale, celery, apple, and lemon) caught my eye. I decided to try it, even though the green liquid looked less than appetizing. It turned out to be quite the opposite though, very tasty and very addicting. I couldn’t get over how good it was, and how simple the ingredients were. No added sugar, no preservatives, just juice. I figured that $5 per 8oz bottle could break our bank account pretty quickly, but I had to get more of this Green-aid. That’s where the juicer comes in. I was finally convinced of its necessity, and realizing how much $$ we would save by making the juice ourselves, we headed straight to Bed Bath and Beyond to scoop up the juicer Troy had been eyeing all this time (thank you, 20% off coupon!). We juiced everything you can imagine, even beets (which I do NOT recommend juicing unless you scrub the heck out of them first), and concocted all kinds of new recipes. Two weeks later, we are still going strong, drinking two servings of fresh juice a day. I know it may sound kinda gross to consume juiced kale or spinach, but mixed with the right ingredients, it’s pretty awesome. You have got to try it 🙂 It is seriously so good; we haven’t made a single batch we didn’t love. Plus, the amount of nutrients we are getting now is crazy!
5. Calling it Fall. Hobby Lobby has been promoting it for months already and my Pinterest feed has been blowing up with crafty ideas for months that end in ‘-ber’. Fall is upon us, folks, and I think it’s safe to say that we are all ready for it. Fall means football games, the official thumbs-up to wear boots and dark nail polish, and all things pumpkin. I even heard a rumor that Starbucks has started serving their popular Pumpkin Spice Lattes already! Whaaaaat?? The 100 degree temps here have made sipping a PSL a little hard to fathom though, so I am personally waiting until October to officially jump into autumn’s activities. I am kicking things off with the fall antique fair in Round Top, TX (woohoo!) and it just gets crazy from there. I love it though! Anything YOU are particularly looking forward to in the months ahead??
6. Thread Tunes. On a jog last week, I heard a new song by Katy Perry called Roar. Loved it! It’s such a get-pumped-up kinda song, perfect for working out, or hanging out, or really whatever. My point is that it’s a great listen, so go check it out and be prepared to feel like you can take on the world once the song is over 🙂
7. Sneak Peek. I jumped back into work last week with the most adorable family and their newest addition. Here is a little sneak peek of their session, to hit the blog early next week!
