I have been waaaaay sick the past few days and have been in bed pretty much non-stop. That means no snuggles with my sweet girl (or my sweet guy) before today. Boo. I think Bree may have a tiny cold too so we are spending the day in our pjs, keeping warm inside and indulging in a little Sesame Street, lots of story time, and as many naps as we can make happen. Pray we return to normal soon!! Upside: all that down time means I was able to get the Thread done early this week — what??? High five to me (followed by a hefty spritz of hand sanitizer).
1. Shooting For Fun. Last weekend, we took a little trip with some of our friends out to the hill country and spent the weekend in Fredericksburg. It was our first weekend away from Bree and although we missed that little nugget like crazy, we enjoyed the time together, just us and our pals. I made a big effort to bring my camera along during various parts of the trip too, and snapped a good amount of photos which I plan to share soon (including some shots from atop Enchanted Rock, which was breathtaking!) 🙂 It was nice to have a little vacation and take photos just for fun, without feeling like it’s ‘work’; I don’t allow myself to do that as much as I should and it really is a shame so I vowed to change that this year. The Fredericksburg trip was a great start 🙂
2. CDP News. In two weeks, we will be hosting the first workshop of 2014 and I am just giddy over it! We have an awesome group of attendees and a fun day planned, as well as some killer goodies donated by some pretty incredible vendors (including Mpix and Light Scoop, to name a few). We had so much interest in the two workshops that it got me thinking about scheduling future ones. As always, if you’d like to be included on future workshop emails, shoot me a message and I will add you to the list so you can be among the first to know about them 🙂 In other CDP news, I have created a brand new ‘thank you’ rewards system for clients this year, to show my appreciation each time you share your session with others, and every time someone books a session because of your referral. I will email clients the details upon booking but just note, there are some pretty good freebies in there y’all!
3. Ap Love. I am a sucker for a good iPhone ap, and thanks to several of my pals on Instagram sharing their pics, I was recently introduced to Waterlogue. It is awesome, y’all. Waterlogue turns your plain jane iPhone photos into really beautiful watercolor images. I had some fun playing around with it over the past few days and have turned almost every image into a watercolor version 🙂 The ap is worth every bit of its $2.99 price tag, in my opinion. Here are a few of my favorites playing with Waterlogue:
4. SB XLVIII. I am sure you’ve had enough talk about the Super Bowl, particularly how bad Denver did and how awesome Bruno Mars’ performance was (he did do a pretty great job). But the part I always looked forward to was the commercials and although this year’s selection left much to be desired, there were a few that left an impression on me, like this Budweiser commercial (I am a succor for labradors), this Chevy commercial (tear jerker!), and the Cheerios commercial (way to negotiate, kiddo). Troy’s top picks were definitely…um…different than mine though: Chevy bull commercial and the Doritos time machine commercial 🙂 What were your faves??
5. Thread Tune. I haven’t spent much time listening to music this week, so I was kind of stumped on a song for this week’s Tune. I even browsed the iTunes charts and didn’t find anything new/good. Then I remembered that the one song I HAVE actually heard a lot of the past few weeks is Dierks Bentley’s I Hold On. Our pastor just wrapped up a sermon series with that song as the theme too (such a good series focusing on faith, hope, and love) so the song has even more meaning to me now. I figured I would share the tune with you if you haven’t heard it — maybe you will feel a little something more beyond the words like I do now, each time I listen to it.
6. Sneak Peek. As promised last week, I will continue sharing the images from my last few sessions of 2014, but am super excited to also start sharing the ones from this year too. First up next week, in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, this adorable family 🙂
