1. Spring into Action. Folks, it is officially springtime! And it actually feels like it with this lovely 72 degree weather. The rain has affected way too many of our plans the past few weekends (including our spring minis!) so we’ve been spending a lot of time outside while we can, swinging and grilling and taking long walks. We even had our first patio dinner last night, complete with crawfish and margaritas 🙂 Ahhhhh, scorching hot summer please stay away for a bit longer! I am looking forward to a few more days of sunshine before the inevitable rain hits this weekend, and keeping my fingers crossed that it stays away until after Saturday’s workshop. I can do rain, but hot, steamy, humid Houston is NO bueno.
2. To Dye For. I know that Bree isn’t even close to being coordinated enough to decorate Easter eggs this year, but I might still put together a little decorating day for us in the coming weeks to EGGxperiment with new dying techniques (sorry, I couldn’t help myself). In this month’s Martha Stewart Living, there are some pretty simple yet stunning ways to spruce up your eggs, and Pinterest obviously hosts some unique tips as well, like using glitter, adding your own robin-egg-esque speckles, calligraphing them, or putting on some bling. I am obsessed with watercolor and think I may try my hand at prettying up some eggs the watercolor way, or even using this cool tissue paper technique. Oh, and we have an entire bag of silk ties I picked up years ago at Goodwill with intentions of doing this dying method… ya, that never happened. I think it’s time to tackle some eggs, y’all! Whadaya say??
3. Stop at Round Top. I’ve gone back and forth and back and forth about whether or not we will be making the beautiful, bluebonnet-lined drive to and from Round Top in just a few weeks for the spring fair. I’ve gone every season for the past few years and really love the vibe at the spring antique show but man, our April calendar is craaaaaazy right off the bat, making it really difficult to imagine spending the day away. Plus, I will be bringing Bree with me if I do go, which kind of gives me heart palpitations. Have those of you with kiddos ever toted your tots along? Any advice if I do find a way to sneak away for the day, other than to pack Tylenol, extra wet wipes, and a stroller?? Or better yet, anyone want to go with me?? 😉 I promise to treat you to Royer’s Cafe and a slice of their yummy pie!
4. CDP News. As I mentioned on Monday in the latest workshop recap, we will be hosting the second CDP workshop of the year on Saturday with a whole new cast of awesome camera owners to hang out with. I can hardly contain my excitement — I have way too much fun at the workshops, y’all 🙂 There has continued to be great interest in future classes too, so be sure to keep following my Facebook page for the latest CDP workshop news and signups! And in shoot news, the calendar is filling up in a frenzy and we are booking into the summer months now, so if you want to get a session scheduled for your family (or your high school senior!) please contact me soon before all dates are scooped up! I am keeping a few days blacked out for a session in the bluebonnets and a day at the beach for those of you wanting something a little different than my normal minis — sound fun??? I think so!
5. Thread Tune. We bought the Lorde CD a few weeks ago on a whim and found it’s the perfect record to listen to when driving down the highway with the sunroof open (in keeping with this whole springtime, warm weather theme I’ve kept up with in this Thread). We have a few tracks on our favorites list, but one that I keep coming back to lately is Team (it’s also all over the radio right now too, so if you haven’t heard it, I would be genuinely surprised!).
6. Sneak Peek. Next week, you’ll get to oooh and ahhh over this little cutie, also one of the BEST behaved newborns I’ve worked with yet. She’s a doll, y’all…
Happy Thursday!!
