1. Taking Some Time. This summer, I am making it my number one priority to take more time. More time with Bree, with Troy, and more time for me. I can feel my soul aching for it. I am constantly in disbelief over how blessed I am with this business and the most incredible clients…like, ever. And I get so much joy with each click of the shutter and every session that I get to deliver. It definitely requires a lot of work and a lot of time, both of which I am happy to offer up, but as the heat creeps in and sessions get a little more spread out, I plan to embrace the extra time with great excitement and a whole new appreciation for ‘slow season’. It’s unofficialy my first summer with Bree (she was born in June so we stayed indoors most of last summer) and I have great plans for days with my girl: day trips to the beach, mornings at the park feeding the ducks, story time in the hammock, and maybe a sweet treat or two on an extra hot day ๐ I can’t wait…
2. ย Red Balloons for Ryan. Last week, I told you guys about a family who lost their precious little boy in a tragic accident and linked up to some sites where you could help them during this time of need. I have gotten word from many of you that this family has touched your heart and you felt compelled to do something to show your support, so I wanted to let you know of another awesome avenue for helping the Saldana family. It’s through the Instagram account called @RedBalloonsForRyan and it’s a series of auctions featuring the most INCREDIBLE stuff donated by very thoughtful (and talented) vendors. 100% of the proceeds go to the Saldana family to assist with funeral costs and other expenses, so if you’re on Instagram, please check it out and see if there’s anything you’d like to bid on. You can preview the items on the account right now, and bidding starts on Friday from 7am-7pm E.S.T.
3. Party Time! In just six short weeks, my little love turns ONE year old and I am half going crazy over that idea and half giddy over all of the fun stuff we have planned to celebrate (I love a party, y’all). There’s a lot of glitter and girlie details driving my DIY to-do list and I’m currently taking volunteers to help me tackle it ๐ Payment will be given in cupcakes and bubbly. Anyone? Anyone??ย Even with all of the glorious glitter, it has been kind of crazy trying to plan this summertime soiree in general, and coming up with clever ideas for good outdoor fun in the dead of summer has proved to be the biggest challenge. How do you entertain a crowd of all ages? How do you beat the heat while keeping everyone upbeat? Share your ideas with me! I beg you!
4. Workshop News. I have had quite a bit of interest in the next CDP workshop and I am working on something for late summer. If you haven’t been added to the list of people who get the insider news on workshop details, shoot me an email to make sure you’re in the loop! We always have a ton of fun and I am already dreaming up lots of ways to make this workshop the best yet ๐ And don’t forget that these classes have something for many different experience levels, so whether your camera is still in the pretty box it came in or bruised and banged up from shooting everything you can get your lens on, there’s very likely something in it for you!
5. Thread Tunes.ย I have major love for a good ol love-filled country song. That said, today’s tune is a la Mr. Blake Shelton, because I can’t help but tap my toe and sing along whenever I hear his newest single, Doin’ What She Likes. Makes me want to grab a glass of sweet tea and snuggle up with my honey ๐
6. Sneak Peek.ย I am over the moon excited to share Leighton’s newborn session with you so be sure to check back first thing tomorrow ๐ She is too cute, y’all!
