1. June Means Minis. The holidays are about 6months away and getting your fall family photos in the books would make you pretty much the most prepared person ever. At least for a couple of weeks 😉 I love offering the Halfway to the Holidays minis each year — a presale in the summer for a limited selection of fall mini sessions — and am working on finalizing the details for this year’s set so I can release them for sign ups in the next few weeks. I always announce them here on the blog (and share the link via Facebook) so be sure to check in often to get dibs on a spot! These will be the last minis of the year, and you won’t want to miss them — I promise!
2. Pretty Penmanship. Show me anything to do with beautiful typography and I am hooked. It fascinates me that people can create gorgeous artwork from scratch with pens, nibs, brushes, chalk even. I try my hand at it from time to time but I am certainly no pro and seem to do better at the non-uniform, abstract look. I have a great appreciation for traditional style calligraphy though and would love to take the time to properly learn how to write in that style. I bought a few tools and dabbled here and there but can never seem to make the magic happen so-to-speak. Enter Nib and Pixel, a Houston design studio with a particular talent for calligraphy and hand-lettering. I follow them on Instagram (@nibandpixel) and swoon over everything they post, but got particularly excited about the fact that they are offering calligraphy classes for us amateurs! Gah! I am soooo signing up for this and originally had hoped to make the one this Saturday but am going to have to skip to the next one, which I believe is in July. Who wants to join me?!?!
3. Star Spangled. I am a little obsessed with all things Americana these days and daydream about having a quaint rustic cabin decked out in stars and stripes, worn-in leather, crisp cotton and faded denim. I think Pottery Barn does a catalog nod to this style every summer, and I love flipping through the pages. Pinterest is abuzz with the same right now with the 4th right around the corner, which has me transferring my obsession to everything from food to door decor, photography, and fashion. I’ve been so consumed with planning Bree’s first birthday that I totally forgot the 4th is the following week, and therefore have nothing festive planned, to wear, make, or put Bree in. Oops! I better get on that, stat. Where do you buy your patriotic gear??
4. Thread Tunes. I have had a crazy busy week so today I am spending as much time as I can behind my computer, getting stuff done. Nothing helps me stay motivated and trucking along better than a good upbeat tune and One Republic’s Love Runs Out is doing the trick. And speaking of One Republic, did y’all happen to catch them with Dierks Bentley on CMT Crossroads? We ran across it the other day and really enjoyed it. I love a collaboration, especially when it combines artists from different music genres, and this one was pretty great.
5. Sneak Peek. Tomorrow, I will be posting a peek at my session with this sweet family 🙂
