1. Exciting News. Last week, I said there would be some big changes for CDP and I am happy to announce one of them here today…. CDP is going back to its roots, y’all! We will be directing all of our focus toward our lifestyle portrait sessions (family, engagement, maternity, newborn, etc.) and are no longer photographing weddings and events. Portraiture is where we started out, and although we have been extremely blessed by the most incredible couples (and their families) over the years who have trusted us to capture their wedding day, we have found that our business is pulling us in a different direction now, one that will allow us to continue to grow with our clients and feed our passion for lifestyle portrait photography. This change means you’ll see the website and blog shift its focus a bit as well (which has been an exciting process in and of itself). Stay tuned for more exciting CDP news!
2. It’s Baaaaack! Houston Restaurant Weeks, that is! I LOVE this Houston tradition (??) and get so pumped up every time August rolls around for this very reason 🙂 Troy and I like to try a few new restaurants each year and definitely love taking advantage of the special menu selections the restaurants prepare for this promo. In the past, our faves have been Federal Grill, Branchwater Tavern (now Federal Grill), Feast (no longer open), Perry’s (they have a great menu during HRW), Ray’s, and a few others that I am sure are slipping my mind. This year, I am trying the selection at Max’s Wine Dive and Cook & Collins for sure, and hope to add a few more to the list. I personally feel that Houston has one of THE BEST food scenes in the country, with so many options spanning the entire area, and could spend forever trying all of the wonderful options (#fatty). Are any of you partaking in HRW? Do share!
3. Society 6. Part of my online shopping addiction includes unique e-shops that sell a nice variety of cool, one-of-a-kind things. I have been searching for some new prints and decor for the house and found the most incredible things at Society 6. From their site: Society 6 is a shop featuring pieces “created by hundreds of thousands of artists from around the world. When you buy a product from Society6, we produce it using only the highest quality materials, and ship it to you on behalf of the artist.” How cool is that? They seriously have it all too, y’all; duvets, artwork, clothing, rugs — you name it. I have become slightly obsessed with the site lately and keep finding new things that I “must” have in my house 🙂 My favorites are the Babies & Kids stuff and the wall art selection (I could browse that tab allllll afternoon).
4. Local Love. I can’t get enough of home decor blogs and I have been watching THE Holly Mathis make over the most fabulous old home by following along here. Recently, I saw that she posted about a local ‘home’ shop near Spring Branch called Renovate. The name alone gets me excited, how about you??? Apparently it’s filled with local art, repurposed pieces, and all kinds of gifts and accessories; exactly what my little heart desires. I will DEFINITELY be making an appearance this weekend (or next, when my mom visits!) to see what all they have in the shop, and perhaps to gain a bit of inspiration (especially with Round Top just around the corner!).  Have you been to  Renovate? Wanna join me?? 🙂
5. Thread Tune. I haven’t been in the car much, and since that’s where I hear most of my tunes, I feel a little stumped this week on sharing a musical pick with you guys. All I’ve been listening to  is the Raffi station on Pandora :-/ I did happen to see The Head and The Heart on the Late Show recently, and happened to fall a little bit in love with them and their music. They were singing their new song, Let’s Be Still, whose title serves as yet another reminder lately that I need to SLOW DOWN, which has seemed quite impossible amidst an enormous amount of change, chaos, and overloaded schedules. I just listened to it again when copying the link to share with you guys and I already feel my blood pressure dropping 🙂 so maybe it will help you too — and hey, as an added pick-me-up bonus, the weekend is almost here! Woot!!
Happy Thursday, lovelies!
