Woohoo — the Thread is back! 🙂 I can’t say that I am completely ready to get back into the real swing of things just yet, or that the house is anywhere close to normal since the move, not in a million years. But it is nice to find a routine again, and that has to mean the weekly Thread! So let’s get to it…
1. Lessons Learned. Y’all. The moving process has taught us SO MUCH, most of which we would rather have left unknown, like always always turn the water off to your house when you work on plumbing, even if there is a shut-off valve. Trust nothing. Oh, and measure your TV several times before assuming it will fit in its proper (unadjustable) space. Gotta love built-ins. Our list of mishaps and frustrations is far too long by now and I can’t even remember how many things went wrong throughout this process or how many times our spirits were tested, but one thing’s for sure: we will NOT be moving any time soon. Or any time later. Not if I can help it! We still have so much to do but we are getting there. At a snail’s pace, no doubt. Lots of prayers, sweet friends and family, generous neighbors, and the ability to laugh through the tears — that’s what makes it all bearable and worth it, right? 🙂
2. Lindsay Letters. I have been a HUGE fan of her work for quite some time (see more here) and finally purchased a few prints for the new house a month or so before we moved in. I love nearly everything in her online shop never could justify buying up everything I swooned over ($$ adds up quick!). I just had to gawk over everything from behind my computer screen. So imagine my surprise total and utter shock when browsing through Hobby Lobby last night and spotting the most lovely Lindsay Letters designs — framed, ready to hang, AND 50% off!! I died, y’all. My sister was with me (also named Lindsey, hehe) and couldn’t understand my reaction; I literally scooped up every single design and filled my cart to the top. In my defense, when you’re used to seeing these beauties for much more $$ and seemingly not so easily obtainable, it’s quite the surprise when they’re hanging right there in front of you with a happy 50% off sign displayed nearby. And what’s even better, the gold, white, black and grey color scheme will fit our house perfectly. I am so excited! Now if only I can find the time to hang them 🙂 Please head over to Hoblob and scoop one (or 10) of these up. You’ll love ’em, and the rest of the adorable hand-lettered art they’re showcasing these days. Way to go, Hobby Lobby!
3. Boohoo! Halloween is quickly approaching and I am yet again faced with the costume dilemma for Bree. Last year was much easier because she was a tiny 4 months old and very easy to dress (I put her in a onesie and tutu and passed her off as a ballerina). This year, I have an energetic, independent, sassy little runner who won’t wear anything on her head and who wants to ‘throw’ everything, so that changes things a bit this go-around. Of course I want to be creative and do something out-of-the-box but it’s so hard! I have two things in mind, one of which I am hoping we can pull together in time, but I still feel a little stumped. What are your favorite costumes?? What are your go-tos for inspiration? Any advice for things to do or avoid with an almost one-and-a-half-year-old???
4. DIRTY THIRTY!! I want to wish one of my oldest and greatest friends, Allison, a VERY happy birthday week 🙂 She turned 30 on Monday and I can’t wait to celebrate with her soon since I had to miss her beach celebration in Galveston last weekend 🙁 I was so sick! Bummer, big time. Nevertheless, here’s to a sparkly, sassy, special new chapter in your life, friend! xoxoxo
5. CDP News. The fall shooting season is so close I can feel it and it’s going to be a busy one, y’all! I am excited for the minis — a bit different than what we’ve done in the past where location and style are concerned — and I am excited for all of the wonderful sessions that will (hopefully) be blessed with the gorgeous weather we’ve had lately. This is my busiest but most exciting shooting season and I am ready to tackle it! Many have asked if I have any spots open and although all the minis are booked, I do have one maybe two spots total for the rest of the year. So if you’ve been on the fence about getting your photos scheduled, do it quick! 🙂
6. Thread Tune. I can’t deny how much I looooove All About That Bass by Meghan Trainor. Such a fun song! I am a little embarrassed to admit that I had no clue what it was about for some time after hearing it 🙂 But being that I am 6months preggo, I’ve come to appreciate the lyrics now that I know them 🙂
Have a happy day, y’all — and hellloooooo fall 🙂
