Still giddy over that new logo up there 🙂 And a little in shock that it’s already been a week since my last post! Last weekend marked my official kickoff to the fall season (a busy fall season) and I have been grinding away ever since, trying to stay ahead of schedule! The blog has been a bit quiet but I will have lots of lovely sessions to share with you soon — because isn’t that why you come here week after week?? Hehe.
1. So we survived another round of Round Top! My incredible hubby and very patient and go-with-the-flow daughter accompanied me to the land of lovely antiques on Friday and we had a BLAST together. The weather was stunning, nothing but sunshine and cool breezes. I believe that factor alone was how I managed to keep my little family happy for 7+ hours of antiquing. Yep. You read that right. We spent the entire day strolling through cow pastures and rolling from tent to tent, and as long as I made sure everyone had a cold drink and some snacks, we were able to press on 🙂 I snapped some photos of our finds (and if you follow me on Instagram, you already know how cool one of them is!) and I will be sharing those, along with our adventures with ya next week. One thing’s for sure, this trip tops the list as one of the best times I’ve ever had in Round Top. And we didn’t even stop for pie (gasp!). Anyone else brave the crowds and partake last week? What treasures did you score??
2. Mad about Mocs. I suppose the trend isn’t for every taste, but I personally cannot get enough of those precious little shoes. I don’t even know where my infatuation began but nevertheless it’s there, in full force, and some days it takes all of my might to resist buying Bree a pair in every single color possible 🙂 Well-made, they are awesome little shoes and Bree seems to like them as much as I do. I think it’s fair to say that Freshly Picked leads the pack with their stunning spectrum of mocs but I can’t rationalize their price tag, no matter how hard I try, so that forced me to look into other more practical options where I didn’t have to sacrifice quality or cuteness. I have been really happy with the few pairs I ordered from Antlers and Bows (LOVE THEM) and am about to place a new order from Feather Feet so I can get Bree all stocked up for fall. There’s just something way too cute about the thought of Bree in a good pair of printed leggings and some gold mocs 🙂 #ThankGodIamHavingaBoyNext
3. From Stumped to Solved.  As Thursday — or as I think of it, Thread day — approaches each week, I sometimes find myself stumped on things to share with y’all. So I make plans to venture out and see what goodies I can be inspired by for a little Thread content. This week, Ikea and Renovate Houston solved all of my troubles with the most incredible finds for the new casa, things I absolutely must share with you 🙂 I decided that I am going with a little more design edginess in parts of the new house and am trying to incorporate more interesting patterns and colors. I am kind of failing on the whole ‘interesting color’ thing (I love me some grey, white, and tan), but patterns — I’ve got that down 🙂 I scored these two // 1, 2 // pillows during my last trip to Ikea and even contemplated buying this rug there as well but I passed on it because I found a little different look from where else but Hobby Lobby (yes, they sell rugs!). I love the new look of the office which is mostly black and white with mixes of natural wood and metals, some greenery, and the occasional pop of pale mustard yellow. It’s coming together and I will share pics of that soon…hopefully! And at Renovate Houston, I picked up the prettiest chair for our entry, some super-smell-good candles, and a dainty gold leaf necklace from Golden Thread who was hosting a trunk show there (going on all day today at Renovate). A chair, some candles, and a necklace….random?? LOL If you are in the market for pretty home goods then I would definitely give Ikea and Renovate a look. They are within minutes of each other by the way, and I dare you to not find something you must have 🙂
4. Tube Talk. I feel like there are so many shows who are airing their final season this year and I for one am sad to see Parenthood come to an end. I have really come to love that show and this season is blowing my mind already! I watched last week’s episode last night and almost cried when, well, I won’t spoil it for anyone 🙂 This week’s is going to be a doozie too, I know it! I am on pins and needles waiting to see how it all comes full circle at the end of the season and how each person’s story ends. Will Ray and Laurelai stay together? Will Coach be ok?? Ok I know those aren’t their names in the show but that’s how my brain works these days — ha! Who out there even understands what I am referring to? LOL.  I have also been drawn back in to Chicago Fire and  Amazing Race, to name a few. I hardly have time for TV during their regular air times but thanks to DVR, they are on standby for long editing sessions!
5. Thread Tune. Speaking of TV, the Voice has been back for a few weeks and I heart that show so much that I thought I would pick a song by judge Adam Levine that also features fellow judge Gwen Stefani for this week’s Thread: My Heart is Open. Easy listen, sweet lyrics, all-around good tune. The entire Maroon 5 album is pretty great as well. Oh, and side note: I am loooooving the new judges by the way — aren’t you?? Shakira and Usher were awesome as well but there’s just something fun about Gwen and Pharrell that makes me look forward to seeing what they do each week.
I was all over the place with this week’s Thread – ha! Happy happy Thursday, y’all!
