1. 101 in 1001, Almost Done! I happened upon my old 101 in 1001 and since my deadline is coming up along with my 30th birthday, I thought it may be fun to take another look at it. My how things have changed over the past two years… priorities, circumstances, a baby and another on the way! I know that my next 101 goals will be quite different, but if you are curious about how I’ve done since starting this challenge, click here 🙂
2. Baby Makes Four. With moving and my busy shooting season ramping up, we haven’t had much time at all to prep for our little guy’s arrival (only about two months to go!), so my goal for the next 8 weeks is to get on top of that part of my to-do list 🙂 His crib arrived last week and something about getting it set up lit a fire under me to finally get going on his room. It does seem to be much easier to know what we need/want this time around too, not to mention how nice it is to have most of the necessities covered from when we had Bree. I admit though that having two under two means I can’t reuse a lot of things like the crib, mattress, changing pad, or rocker. So we did have to invest in some duplicates, but I love that we were able to go in a totally different direction with the style, adding more masculine elements. It’s all coming together and although I never thought I would be so excited about having a boy, I am over the moon 🙂 I can’t get enough of tartan prints and buffalo plaid and arrows and deers and woodgrain — ahhh it’s all so cute! What were your must-haves for transitioning from one kid to two, and what were your favorite things (needs OR wants) for your little guy?
3. Shoe on the Other Foot. We had our family photos taken this week with the very sweet and talented Alicia Pyne, and being in front of the camera is always such a humbling experience. It’s healthy for me to be on the other side of things every once in a while because I definitely forget how nerve wrecking and insecure it can make people feel! Not to mention the waiting game, wondering just how the photos will turn out — did my kid smile at ALL? Did my hair look okay? Was my husband sitting up straight? Did he smile a real smile? And the one a lot of us girls think (especially when preggo!): do I look fat?!?!?!? I always ALWAYS feel like my clients shine in front of the camera and look incredibly beautiful, and I try to reassure them of that throughout their experience with me. But when the shoe is on the other foot, I totally get it 🙂 I really do. I have two photographers that I have entrusted with our precious family photos over the past two years — who I will ALWAYS use, no matter what — and I can’t stress enough how important it is to not only find someone who understands your style and how to work with your family, but who you trust completely to capture your vision for the shoot. I know there are a lot of things to consider when booking a photographer (availability, distance, turn-around time, getting digitals/prints, and the big one: cost) but having timeless images that truly capture the essence of your family, that’s priceless to me. And in my humble opinion, it’s every bit worth the price, or the six month advance booking requirements, or having to drive an hour and a half. Alicia was sweet enough to post these photos as a sneak peek and the only word that comes to mind is treasure. They are a treasure to me already, capturing so much of what this time means for our little family, and I hope that’s the same feeling I evoke in my clients each time 🙂 Thank you dearly, Alicia!
4. Thread Tune. Enjoying Miranda Lamber’s CD, Platinum, lately. Not any particular song really, just the album in general, though Another Sunday in the South is on repeat more these days then the others 😉 I know it came out in April but I haven’t given it much of a listen other than hearing a few songs on the radio, but it’s a good one so if you’re in the market for a little country tune, give it a listen.
5. Sneak Peek. I will be sharing the last of the round 1 mini sessions tomorrow, so here is a little peek from my time with the Barr family and this little cutie 🙂
Have a great day, y’all!!
