I bet you thought I forgot, huh? Or that I would delay writing a Thread again. But here I am! I may be cutting it close to when I prefer to get the Thread posted, but a morning full of errands and an afternoon spent putting babies down, and then putting them down again, meant a delay was inevitable 🙂 Story of my life…
1. CDP 3.0. I am in the process of rolling out my updated brand and since I do all of the web and design stuff myself (aside from my awesome logo, compliments of Papellerie), I have no choice these days but to do things in waves. Thanks, kids 🙂 The blog is just about finished, only ‘just about finished’ because I am notorious for going in and doing little tweaks before finally seeing something as ‘done.’ My website is next for the update and then the remaining tangible parts of the biz — packaging, stationery, business cards, that sort of thing. I am really excited about it all coming together — a clean and fresh look with a little edge. I can’t wait to finish it and show y’all! Here’s hoping it’s done some time this year…ha!
2. California Love. Is anyone else so completely over this weather?? I normally squeal when cold weather hits because it means I get to wear slouchy sweaters, boots, and my fave — scarves — but I have been stuck in winter wear for far too long this ‘season’ and it’s gotta end. And where business is concerned, I feel very lucky that I don’t have too many shoots scheduled yet that would inevitably have to be rescheduled, but Mother Nature is still putting a big damper on any and all of my outdoor plans and I am over it. I need sunshine and flip-flops in my life! Heck, I would even take those treacherous 99% humidity days over what we’ve had lately. I can work with humidity. I can NOT work with gale force, freezing winds. To focus on sunnier days ahead, we booked a trip to California next month to visit my sister – woo! That trip could not come soon enough. We have never been to Cali and the options for to-do’s are nearly overwhelming since we want to plan a relaxing trip but still see as much as we can. Did I mention we would be going to San Diego? The zoo is a must, obviously, and I booked a photographer while we are there too so we can document our first family-of-four trip 😉 Oh wow, I think that’s the first time I have ever said/typed that… sounds so funny! Anyhoo, shoot me a message or leave a comment if you have any recommendations for us while in Cali. Tips for traveling with little ones are welcome too!
3. Making Spaces. Since moving back in September, decorating our house has occupied a large portion of my mind (and my Pinterest account). I daydream about colors and styles and spend most of my ‘free’ time reading design blogs like Nesting Place, Holly Mathis Interiors, Apartment Therapy, and The Inspired Room and browsing decor websites like Wayfair, Joss & Main, and West Elm. I have also been going to local artisan shops, thrifts, and flea market events that I never even knew existed until recently! Troy and I ended up finding some neat things (and a lot of inspiration) at Native Citizen, and last weekend I tried out Vintique Flea for the first time. Although I went on the last day, it was still really neat to shop around and see what I could find for our house (and try out some of the local food trucks that were on sight — Mobile Mug for yummy coffee and cinnamon rolls and Cousins Maine Lobster for a seriously killer lobster roll). I am a little obsessed with repurposed/old things mixed with the new, and Vintique certainly delivered. I tend to get overwhelmed with all of the options that are out there though because I don’t think I really have one particular style, but I still find it very satisfying to complete a space and thanks to the vendors listed above, I am making good progress. Where do you go for inspiration or fun finds??
4. Casting Call! This year, my goal is to hone in on what I am most passionate about and to photograph what I LOVE. Want to be a part of it? I am looking for a few families to help me launch an exciting, brand new shoot concept for CDP! The sessions will be during the week and will likely take place the week of March 16. I will be announcing the details very soon but if you think you or someone you know may be interested in a free session, be sure to follow me on Facebook to see when and how to officially ‘apply’.
5. Thread Tune. I expressed my love of this tune a while back on Instagram, but it had to make its way on to the Thread as well. I don’t know that there’s a single person who doesn’t do a little shimmy when it comes on the radio or smile big when watching the video (who even watches full music videos anymore?!). I downloaded the entire album from iTunes right after I heard this song for the first time and since then, I have enjoyed the rest of the album and keep it on repeat most days. I am sure to share a few others here in the future too. What song am I referring to?? Sugar, of course. By Maroon Five. LOVE.
Next week, I will get back to posting what makes this blog shine, the photos 🙂 Have I mentioned how good it feels to be back? Have a great weekend, y’all!
