1. Be a Follower. Due to some Instagram craziness, I recently decided to separate my personal Instagram posts from my business ones and am in the process of removing business followers from my personal account (no fun, y’all!). So if you would like to keep up with me on Insta, please search for @chelseadavisphotography and follow along. I will still mix in some personal stuff over there because I find it hard to draw the line sometimes…ha! And also because I want to continue sharing little tidbits about who I am with all of you so you can ‘get to know me’ as best as social media will allow 🙂 So @chelseadavisphotography is where you will find most of my photo-related happenings and news on give-aways, blog post notifiers, and sneak peeks. Please be a dear and follow me there, especially if you previously followed my personal account.
2. In Sync. It was bound to happen. Lip Sync battles, y’all. Jimmy Fallon made them popular on the Tonight Show and now Spike is reserving a whole timeslot to these hilarious performances! If you haven’t seen them, you are seriously missing out because nothing is quite as funny as watching Will Ferrell ‘sing’ Beyonce or Joseph Gordon Levitt tackle a Nicki Minaj song. Troy and I love these bits and since the Lip Sync Battle show airs April 2, you better believe we will be making room on our DVR list for this one. Watch the preview here.
3. Rodeo Recap. We braved the Rodeo last week with my parents and the kiddos (their first trip) and I will be honest with you, it was kind of insane. If I am being totally honest, it was probably too much for a 19-mo old and a baby (Everett slept tucked away in his stroller the whole time!) with all of the school crowds, yucky weather, and long walks, but we did manage to have lots of fun amidst the chaos so I consider it a win for team Davis. We started by walking through some of the exhibits to see the cows, pigs, and goats– by the way, that little red line on the floor intended to keep people a safe distance from the animal pens was like a starting line for Bree to propel herself toward the animals. NO bueno since “some of the animals bite.” Um, what? After that, we went to see the baby chicks hatch, which is exciting and a little odd at the same time (they don’t just pop through the eggshell and walk around; they lay there, flat and still for a while and look a pretty rough), then headed over to where the animals stayed pre- and post- showing, made our way to the petting/feeding area (more on that in a future post!), rode the carousel, and then stuffed our faces with carnival treats before returning home. Troy is counting the days years until Bree can partake in mutton-bustin’ and I already can’t wait for another helping of fired Oreos 😉 Gotta love rodeo season!
4. Savor. I don’t read all that often (aside from emails and blog posts) and I really wish I did. I love opening a book and soaking up other peoples’ wisdom, finding new perspectives on life, love, parenting, work, and self improvement (to name a few). My time is often spent doing other things and I hardly carve time out quiet time for reading, but when a book pops up that really peeks my interest, I jump in. That’s definitely been the case with Savor by Shauna Niequist, her newest book of recipes AND 365 devotions meant to nourish our spirit by savoring all of the goodness in this life God has given us. I am just getting started with it, but I am already a huge fan and think it would be a wonderful read for every woman I know and love. Plus, organizing the book into one devotion a day makes it really easy for a busy-body like me to take a few moments to take in a lesson and ponder on life, God’s word, and go through my day with intention and appreciation. Did I mention how gorgeous the book is too?? A textured linen cover with hand-lettering by the talented Lindsay Letters, a ribbon bookmark, navy painted page edges — stunning. Amazon has Savor on sale for $10.31 right now which is a FANTASTIC deal so go get you one!
5. Thread Tune. Set Fire to the Rain by Adele? I Can’t Stand the Rain by Ann Peebles? Rain, Rain, Go Away? Just kidding. Kind of. Almost as much as I hate the rain these days is how much I hate complaining about the rain. I’m trying to embrace it but it’s feeling a little like Seattle around here, and while I love the emerald city for its many attractions, the weather is not one of them. So we wait. For sunnier skies and dry ground and the day when we can give our rain boots a break (though they are cute). I was supposed to be talking about music here, huh? Oops. I digress. How about something peppy? Homegrown by Zac Brown Band oughta do it 🙂
6. Sneak Peek. And what’s a post without a photo? Here’s a peek at Wyatt’s 12mo session, hitting the blog tomorrow.
