1. Round Top Roundup. It’s that time of year again! Bluebonnets are sprouting up and so are the tents full of antiques and one-of-a-kind treasures, from Warrenton to Burton all along the Texas Independence Trail. Antiques week technically kicks off next week but I am doing something new this season, making the trek out there early. I discovered that the Round Top fun really begins weeks before the official Antique Week dates, so if we can beat some of the crowds and maybe get our hands on some cool stuff before they disappear, that’s a win for me. Fingers crossed it’s not as crazy as it will be next week! Either way, the weather is supposed to be lovely and I have my eye on some Royer’s pie on the square and what better way to kick off spring than that?? Now who’s going to Round Top?!
2. Stuck. Last week, I shared a new favorite read, Savor. I have enjoyed incorporating it into my day, starting or ending each one with a bit of Shauna Niequist’s wisdom. Its been the perfect book to help me take a little time to focus on what’s truly important before tackling all of the ‘other’ stuff that life throws at me I throw at myself. Alongside these daily devotions, I am also participating in the Stuck study by Jennie Allen. From the book description: “…as we realize that our stuck places are the very places that make us ache for God, we find Him waiting there for us with hope and freedom.” If you are looking for a simple but powerful study, this one fits the bill. Each lesson leaves me feeling like a new lightbulb was turned on and I’m loving it. It’s less than $10 on Amazon and worth every penny, in my opinion.
3. TV Time. It’s no secret, we love our TV shows. As if we had any time at all to watch TV. Ha! This year, I swore I would narrow our DVR list way down so we didn’t feel torn between so many shows (the struggle is real, y’all) and while it was looking nice and slim for a while, we were recently introduced to a few series that have us totally hooked, staying up well past our bedtime just to get an episode in. Like House of Cards on Netflix (so so SO good). I never knew I would be so interested in a show based around politics and Washington drama. And then theres’s Better Call Saul (AMC), which is totally different and still just as good. I keep waiting for a Walter White appearance 🙂 What shows are you addicted to??
4. Targeted. On a normal trip to Target, I can’t seem to get out of there without ten bags full of stuff. This morning I went in for diapers and ended up filling my cart with a new pair of shoes and a swim cover-up. Oh and some Easter basket stuff for the kids. And that’s before I even got past the first aisle. Before I knew it, I had added a gold tray, a lint roller, trail mix, more shoes, an eyelash curler and a lamp base (among other things). I put the lamp base back. Take that, Target. There’s a reason their logo is a bulls-eye. Each time I go, I think that I won’t buy much because I was just there and surely I saw everything they had to offer at my last trip. Nope. I was overwhelmed with more of their spring awesomeness yet again, from apparel to home goods, with every single piece being completely on trend. I had some real struggles in a few of the aisles, y’all, debating the necessity of a navy and gold faux bamboo side table or any number of things from their craft section (hello, adorable iron-on letters). You know what made matters worse? Their current BOGO sale. Yes, that’s right. Buy any dress/skirt/pair of shoes/purse/piece of jewelry get another half off. Bulls-eye.
5. Thread Tune. I got nothing today. Really. Nothing new to share, at least. Maybe it’s because my days are filled mostly with the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse songs and my nights with kids’ lullabies, but I have nothing interesting or otherwise exciting to share as my pick for a Thread tune today! So why don’t I switch things up a bit and YOU leave me a comment below with what you’re jammin’ to? 🙂
Up next week, more mini session peeks, an adorable cousin session, and our rodeo adventures! Until then, happy weekend y’all! Get out and enjoy this ridiculously nice weather.
